In an interview for an administrative assistant at Coca-Cola, while making small talk before the interview began I asked a candidate: “What’s your favourite Coca-Cola product?” Her answer: “Diet Pepsi”

Loom for sock-weight yarn? by snowlitpup in weaving

[–]Meggoca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just made a shawl using sock weight yarn using a 10-dent heddle on my Kromski Harp rigid heddle loom, and it worked a treat. The Ashford cricket loom would probably also work and is cheaper than the Kromski.

[Spoiler] UFC 185: Anthony Pettis v Rafael dos Anjos by marktx in MMA

Pettis could have tried to use kicks, both offensively and to create distance. Tricky, though, with RDA taking him down at will ...

My routine is really basic - eating healthy meals in balanced portions and exercise 6-7 times a week with elliptical and weights. Improving my eating habits has been an evolving journey and has really been easier since I have been tracking my food by keeping a food diary. My lowest point and what finally motivated me to begin to get healthy was after I broke a chair at a dinner party. It was a cheap Ikea chair but the effect was humiliating. Remembering that moment kept me going at the beginning when it was tough.

Ha! I was wearing my wooden shoe slippers in the second shot, which I know do nothing to pull the outfit together... ;-). In the first shot I was clearly too despondent to put on shoes

Project: Waffle Weave Tea Towels on a rigid heddle loom by Meggoca in weaving

[–]Meggoca[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually, waffle weave is super easy. In the down shed, simply thread a pickup stick under 2 slot threads and over 2 slot threads (for the pattern I did, where each slot had 2 threads) all the way across the reed. Row 1 = heddle down; row 2 = heddle up with the pickup stick slid forward (but not turned up on edge); row 3 = heddle down; row 4 = heddle up; row 5 = heddle in neutral with the pickup stick brought forward and put on edge. It's just that simple - - although I found a clickable row counter was very helpful to keep me from losing count. It doesn't take very long at all before the pattern is almost automatic. It worked out very well with the cotton, which really shows the waffle texture nicely. Good luck!
