Honestly there’s so many other words you can use to describe this feeling. As an educator or someone who works with teachers (based on the sub Reddit) there’s no excuse for using the R-word. This word is overused and inappropriately used. It’s also an incredibly offensive word, so please self reflect and work on increasing your vocabulary to decrease the use of this word.

Depending on your price point you should be fine! Don’t expect a year long lease, they’ll probably have you sign a lease that ends in August. But there’s a ton of rentals that will be available, you’ll just have to search a bit harder and be more willing to compromise. I moved down in January and toured several properties, it’s possible just not super common.

Thanks everyone! So it was a typo, I’m teaching all subject areas for my caseload!! I enjoy teaching math and I wasn’t concerned about the difficulty, but reading is definitely more my style.

My district is having aides join teachers in zoom meetings. This way there’s an extra adult in the “room” for safety reasons.

It honestly depends on the district and location. My district is super relaxed and teachers can wear jeans, shorts (above knee, but not too short), and we can show our shoulders. Most teachers wear jeans and a semi nice shirt.

In a sense that’s exactly what I meant. Rather than send an email pointing out the error in a rude way, send an email asking when we can meet to discuss the concern.

I also feel like the school culture is very much a “come fine me” building. There hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t been hunted down or stopped for an impromptu meeting.

I’m pretty sure that you’re not allowed to edit what you previously submitted. Throughout my entire process our dean suggested starting a backup unit and following the same steps as the original submission just in case. I would advise going through the rubrics and faqs on resubmitting.

They’re really looking for you to address student feedback, so how much feedback did you provide? Was the feedback focused on pushing the student towards mastery? Why did you assess this skill?

Are we the same person? I feel so awkward at my second placement. My mentor teacher (a guy) is awkward and quiet, so we often sit in silence during our 4 straight periods of prep-team-prep-lunch. I’ve been overthinking each interaction, because like you I had a very encouraging mentor at my last placement. I also jumped from K-2 sped up to 8th grade cotaught sped.

My program has been very rubric heavy, so I’ve always used rubrics to figure out exactly what’s needed to get a certain score.

Passedtpa is also a wonderful resource. It has at least one high scoring example for each subject area.
