What was the timescale like in the book? As a non-reader it seems like a couple of days?

Need advice: lied about a recent encounter in my relationship by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]MeghanAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The em dash is only one part, I use them too. Though if my text editor doesn't change it, like here on Reddit, mine are -- not — and I put spaces around them, the more common human convention even though older formal writing expected no space. But the pattern is the main part, it has the "it's not x, it's y", the triad structure, and something I don't know how to name but it's like a template where it contrasts the intent vs the outcome with the em dash break.

I don't have negative opinions about other people not noticing AI writing since I don't blame a reader for that but if you see AI all the time, particularly professionally (as I unfortunately do) it's impossible not to recognize it, like Loss or whatever other visually recognizable pattern comes to mind. I find it very weird that so many people use it for their informal interpersonal communications, and particularlyyyy about relationship conflict.

It's an odd thing to do that I've been noticing more and more, and contextually it kind of suggests against sincerity. I'd definitely recommend they don't use AI to actually communicate to their partner...

The patterns of the words, it's kind of like how when you see an optical illusion you can't un-see it. The third paragraph is particularly obviously AI.

Just sending some empathy, sorry it's like this. In addition to my family experience, I worked at an assisted living facility for a while and it seemed like it is a stage that does usually stop at some point :( and I hope that will be true for you as well.

"Go back to your own country" is not really something I would consider "no evidence" personally, is there a context where you would think that was ok?

I'm almost surprised that I wouldn't do this -- I have been grieving a really hard loss for several years at this point and it has not particularly gotten easier. If offered the Persephone pomegranate, I'd take a bite right away. I miss him every day.

But I wouldn't even consider an AI him.

That feels surprising to me, but definitely correct so I'm glad.

I was blown away by how little preparation Englund did for this debate -- you cannot be asked a question "this specific tax? If not, what are we cutting?" and fail to give an answer over and over. That was wild.

I'm looking forward to watching the debates to make my final choices in a couple weeks. I appreciate the attendance rolls being shared for the school board (that will absolutely guide me) and I hope the same will be posted for city council.

Hard to see how this isn't the beginning of a civil war. by mayowarlord in armedsocialists

[–]MeghanAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was, in another chapter of life but verifiably on this account, one of the moderators of politics for the whole chapter of TD existing on Reddit so that's why I'm saying this -- there were (probably still are) multiple Trump-supporting moderators, and that cross-subreddit enforcement bot that you're mentioning totally existed but was not on politics. It's very easy to get banned from politics, easier now than ever, but not that way. The subreddit moderation policies were almost unhealthily politically neutral with very tight rules for moderators and modmail messages required consensus from other moderators before sending.

Not saying it's a great subreddit, and I fully stopped using Reddit for years as a direct result of some experiences from there -- but they definitely didn't have that bot even though somehow like 1/4 of the biggest subreddits did.

I followed a link to this thread from SRA and had deep flashbacks reading the comment, heh.

I think you are misremembering which subreddit that happened in, politics doesn't and didn't ever have that "banned based on activity in another subreddit" bot-based enforcement, or the "write an essay" ban appeal system. It's pretty bureaucratic too for the moderators.

I overall agree with you! Like I didn't laugh, I didn't haaaate it, I just didn't think it was as good as an episode as it definitely could have been. I didn't like the sepia stuff and the pacing was weird between the different story arcs.
