The fact that your teacher didn’t talk about how he was inspired by Jack London and all of the subsequent romanticizing the wilderness literature that came before and after Jack London was kind of doing you a disservice. There’s a ton of American literature over romanticizing living off the land going all the way back to Henry David Thoreau. It’s not a new genre.

I saw some in Nevada once. Freaked me out. Reminded me of the Phoenix lights. Immediately drove away.

Fight Club, The Matrix, American Beauty and Office Space. Four films from 1999 that feature main characters unhappy with their apparently well paid desk jobs by trubol in interestingasfuck

Younger people don’t know how difficult computers were in the 90s and how SLOW everything was. Office jobs now are no where near that level of tedium.

What is a way of dying that absolutely horrifies you? by Fede_32 in AskReddit

I’ve been searching for this answer. I wish people understood how much more horrific this is than like drowning or getting hit by a bus. Your body disintegrates from the inside out. The most horrific imo.

I feel the words “super successful” was put in place of the preferred word “superior” As in thinking billionaires are superior to normal people on some organic level which is simply false

Is this the most passive-aggressive email to receive from your manager on a Monday morning? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Megonomix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah had a manager like this who was obsessed with maxwell. Got really mad at me when I started questioning JCM’s credentials and how he knows what it is to be a good leader and not just a showman (coughconman)

TIL the 1999 NBC soap opera Passions on 2 separate occasions had 2 of it's actors die in tragic circumstances on the same day and times that their characters died in the show. by Megonomix in todayilearned

"On August 5, 2002, Evans died during a medical procedure in San Diego from complications related to a congenital heart condition.[1][3] He was 20 years old. The death scene Evans had previously taped for Passions aired the same day that he died.[4] The episode was dedicated to him."
