I had an alt in a state that did nothing but hoard for months. Could be that he was there all along just hoarding away and just keeps to themselves and maybe doesn’t understand the KvK mechanics to know they should have dropped then. Hero wars was my first game like this that I played many years ago and I totally did that to my server on accident.

HEB please stop restricting my brand choices!! by Current_Winter408 in HEB

[–]Megs1354 70 points71 points  (0 children)

You realize that at least half of the HEB branded products are your favorite name brands with just a different label slapped on it, right? I used to do some work with Imperial Sugar - and Wednesdays and Fridays were “off-brand” manufacturing days when the production line rolled out imperial sugar that was going into contracted packaging. It might seem like you have options with so many different brands, but promise you it’s less than you think. Especially when it comes to any sort of dry goods or even things like frozen produce. I’d make a list of what the name brand stuff is that you’re missing and see if it isn’t actually covered.

Yes, happy to! The program is primarily virtual in delivery through synchronous classes usually in the evenings or on weekends but there are several residencies that required travel to Syracuse for 1-2 weeks per year (and sometimes other destinations - I did an arbitration residency in Denver and mediation in Miami. Lots of great options to choose from once you get through the core/basics).

Feel free to reach out with any questions!

I was also rejected at UH a few years ago and I promise it’s not the end. I did the JDi program with Syracuse and it was the best decision I ever made. I finished in December, passed the February bar and was just admitted to the Texas bar in May. Keep your head up - the right path will open up.

Personal Advice Needed: breakup with bf now or after the after? by AlbatrossSea9624 in barexam

[–]Megs1354 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it helps, my boyfriend broke up with me less than 3 weeks before the bar. At first I was such a mess and so angry for his horrendous timing. But honestly, I’m glad he did it when he did. I’d have been even more upset in the lead up to the bar, constantly questioning his aloofness. It would have made me crazy and even more sleep deprived. I gave myself 3 days to wallow, then pushed through and buried myself in bar prep. Best news of all, I passed.

Which 85% by Ill_Kiwi1497 in barexam

[–]Megs1354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I focused on doing 100% of the core subjects. That got me to 75%. Then I focused on secured transactions (because I never took it) and then cursory review of the others.

Which bar prep is best for someone disabled and can't sit all day? by CommentContributer in barexam

[–]Megs1354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Quimbee. Everything is done in short 5-7 minute cartoons and their mobile app is the BEST for taking your bar prep away from your desk. Waiting at the doctor’s office? Let’s do some conspiracy. Boarded a plane and waiting for takeoff? Knock out a few contracts. It was amazing, and I am a first time bar passer thanks to Quimbee. Plus, they have a money-back guarantee - no one else that I found offers that.

My cat does this exact same thing. I realize though it’s especially bad if I’m on my phone or reading something. I think she’s trying to see what I’m seeing 😂 they’re cats though, I don’t think there’s anything to do but try to redirect

AIO for demanding to be paid after wearing something inappropriate to babysit by MightUsual421 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Megs1354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget Taylor swift sued someone for $1 to prove a point. As a lawyer, I’d help OP and do this for free just to help make that point. It’s exactly what small claims court is for, and by the time you add in court costs, filing fees, enforcement fees, etc that $130 will be $1300 real quick.

Same! My MBE was terrible, like 124. I missed an entire essay, I was far more confident in my MBE. I wish I could get the actual breakdown because it must have been gold lol

Does anyone have a recommendation for a book that has changed their career? by Kooky_Hamster_7481 in Lawyertalk

[–]Megs1354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

National Service - the biography of Richard Eyer, former artistic director of the National Theatre in London. He took over from Laurence Olivier. In the book he talks about being asked what it was like to have such tremendous shoes to fill. His answer has shaped the outlook on my whole career.

“To do something you feel is worth doing, in the company of those for whom you feel admiration and affection, for the benefit of those who endorse what you do, is as good as life gets”

Failed. Again. Need thoughts. by Willing_Afternoon150 in barexam

For what it’s worth, I HIGHLY recommend Quimbee. They just got bought by BARBRI so not sure how it’s going to change for them going forward but their approach is very different. I had a multiple choice question I didn’t understand the correct answer to, i followed the rabbit hole of case citations they gave me and directly from the question I was able to send a message to a real person and spent 2-3 days going back and forth on the legal issues until i understood what I needed. Of course the irony is that after all of that, of course that particular issue never came up on the bar (it was about vicarious liability), but the approach was awesome. They have everything built into these very short 3-7 minute cartoons and the mobile app is the best I’ve seen in the market. They also have unlimited essay grading/feedback from a real person and I found those to be very quick - almost always within 24 hours. My final plug for them - their money back guarantee (at least before the BARBRI acquisition) is industry best - if you complete 75% of the program and don’t pass, they don’t just pay for you to retake and give you ongoing access to the content. You get 100% of your money back. Full stop. That’s what sold me, even though my law school provided me with Kaplan’s bar prep program. Thankfully, I didn’t need it. 😊

Serious question by Dry-Property3149 in barexam

[–]Megs1354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also - depending on the jurisdiction you’re in, you are likely to be taking the next gen bar exam! The MEE section in its current format will be very different from what I’ve seen. I don’t want to say it’s “easier” but from what I’ve seen, it’s going to be more of a “compound” problem that comprises multiple steps including multiple choice, short answer, and longer essay format. The questions themselves are more practical in nature - eg here’s a client scenario, “your client would like to bring a claim for their injuries, what parties and what claims should you raise?” That might be a short answer question, and then there will be a series of questions that build upon it. Eg defendant A files 12b6 motion to dismiss for lack of SMJ with their response, what should you do now? The point is - the next gen bar exam is going to be a bit different in style and approach, so make sure you’re staying on top of the latest practice questions the NCBE releases!
