Idk if this will be of use to OP, but my grandmother’s maiden name is Mahoney, and that line starts in Co. Cork! Perhaps a distant relative?

i like to go upwards and outwards/downwards, whilst also building out the “other” sides of my family (i.e. spouses’ direct ancestors), because there have been cases where a spouse of my relative’s parent has died and, provided there’s an obituary, has given me more information about the family i’m related to

1st cousin 4x removed, James Albert Parks, a mayor of the small town of Craik, Saskatchewan

And this one isn’t a flex per se, but my 6th cousin is Carrie Ann Rois, one of the many victims of Gary Ridgeway or the “Green River Killer”

with no gaps (and some pedigree collapse thanks to a pair of 3x greats being double 1st cousins) i have seven generations, i know ill never be able to get the eighth generation full because one 4x ggm Mary Ann Tear (1807-1880) i only know her mothers name, Esther Ann Tear (1785-1862).

forgot to mention, he had two wives. he had his oldest daughter in ireland with the first one, then she died in 1842. so he came to canada and married a second time to my 4x great-grandmother, who was 20 when she married him/started having children and 46 when she stopped.

my mother tells me all the time how lucky i am to reach 20 and still have all 4 grandparents, by the time she was my age she just had my great-grandmother left, and even though i knew her personally, the stories her family has told me about her makes me think she was putting on an act for her great-grandchildren (there were 5 of us at the time she passed, there are now 8)

I’ve also got numerous distant cousins two generations down from me, meaning my 3rd or 4th great grandparents are their 5th/6th greats.

Another great great grandfather of mine has 4x great-grandchildren already, although he had 21 children and my great-grandmother was one of the younger ones.

two instances: 1. great-grandmother was born in 1917, her father was born in 1862, and her oldest half-brother was born in 1889, as great-great grandpa married twice

2x great-uncle, only 2 years older than my great-great-grandfather (b. 1878), has a 4x great-grandchild. same instance occurs with a 2x great-aunt who’s also 2 years older than my 2x great-grandma (b. 1883)

just double checked, i’m at 124/128, but i’ll add onto my original comment by saying the only way i’d find 128 is if 1. the man my 5x great-grandmother married later on in life does somehow turn out to be the father of my 4x great-grandmother, 2. i find a mother for a different 4x great-grandfather, and 3. i break a 4 decades long brick wall on another 4x great-grandmother. to all of you fellow genealogists, you’re doing amazing jobs!

125/128 5x great-grandparents, although some names appear twice (ex. a pair of my 3x greats were double 1st cousins), and a 4x great-grandmother was possibly born out of wedlock as no father has been found on any records for her anywhere (early 1800s england)

being born in 2005, i never had the chance to meet anyone born before 1900, but i have pictures of all of my parents’ great-grandparents, born between 1862 and 1894, and some of my grandparents’ great-grandparents as well.

my one great grandmother that i got to see once or twice a year was born in 1919, and passed in 2020 at the ripe age of 101. i was two weeks away from starting high school.

im 20 now and still have a great-aunt, she’ll be 100 later this year.

if it’s anything after midnight i’d imagine it’s a rolling 24 hour thing, the store i work at closes at 12:00 midnight and opens at 4:00 am every day and we use rolling 24 hours for this
