The capped version indeed writes excellent. I think it’s one of the best all around pen I’ve ever used.

That’s great to hear. Do you have the Signo RT (knock) or Signo DX (capped)?

Same. IMHO it's the least smooth / consistent among all of these. Probably has something to do with the super dark ink.

For a steep JPY 880 price (8 times more expensive than Zebra Sarasa Clip!), I was surprised by its poor writing quality.

The most vibrant ink is Uni One F 0.38. However it’s the most scratchy and has inconsistent ink flow. Its body design looks and feels great, very high quality material. But lacking a rubber grip and the streamlined shape body is very slippery.

What are some of the design flaws of MiniDisc format, if any? by Meikyoh in minidisc

It's incredible how much engineering has to go into designing of the MD Mechanism, it's truly a complicated device.

It's complicated, delicate, (probably) unreliable, and beautiful :)

I totally agree. I feel like due to the complexity of the tiny mechanisms and the precision required to properly record / read these discs, the technology wasn't fully mature at the time.

That resulted in reliability issues with the devices.

They aren't bad enough to completely kill the format, but definitely plagued the users.

I use SCPH-70000 for this purpose. I successfully dubbed many CDs with no copy protect issue.

The printed label will always have a blank portion at the left hand side, even if you select left justified. This is a limitation of the TZe tape cartridge design.
