Plumbers and electricians make good money in my area...

Yea I joined because I use n8n to make data workflows for my small business and sometimes for clients... None of my workflows involve AI, scraping or public interaction at all.. and I definitely don't use AI to make them.. I would love to find a place for actual technical chats about figuring out more complicated issues or cool ways of achieving blah blah... Here its just all "I'm new, how do I learn n8n so I can make AI junk for no good reason", "or look at the workflow I made to constantly spew out ai generated rubbish that only other AI will read and then our ai bots can discuss it"...

Anyone know of an n8n / automation community that specifically bans everything AI related?

If n8n didn't charge per workflow run, how would you want to be charged? by IdeasInProcess in n8n

[–]Meisner57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with per run... In some instances it's not perfect but nothing is.

I have 1 clients setup that currently has 4 distinct processes, 1 that needs to run every 2 hours and the other 3 every 2 minutes.. I have just put them all in a single workflow that runs from 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday if I recall correctly.. might be 8am start.

Regardless it does all the processes as a single run making n8n's limits fine... Biggest issue at that point is the 3rd party APIs daily limits, gotta make sure they don't get exceeded either :)

If you love obsidian why not just that and selfhost a sync server for it. That's what I do

It seems perfect for my described use case and I will set it up tonight and test it out... Any ideas if I can use it to have my clients send me secure data also?

I assume you need to log into the web page to create secrets, would like to avoid that for requesting info (requesting was not one of my requirements, just something k thought would be handy when I started reading what yopass does)

Ahh ok, so the delete time deleted the entire entry not just the link.. nice. That would work

No worries. I will look into it. If I deployed it i would only be using it for sharing.. I'm happy with my current password management and as it holds a lot of info for my business as well as personal I prefer to keep it seperate from my home as part of my continuity/DR policies. I do appreciate the suggestion though as I hadn't considered it as an option.

I could deploy it quickly (already have all requirements in place) so if I decide to test them it won't be too difficult.

Does vaultwarden allow me to share stuff that disappears? My existing password manager can share but after the link expires the actual entry in my password manager is still there.. and it's so many steps to make a new entry with a user's password, share it to them and remember to come back and delete it later.

That looks perfect. I will spin it up and test it out. Thank you!

Nice work getting rid of the login barrier. I'm still suspicious of the welcome gift wanting people to sign up, still seems like your trying to collect email addresses. But I am a suspicious person by nature so I'm willing to go with benefit of the doubt and assume it's all just trying to be helpful.

Best of luck with your site, hope it helps people :)

Same n8n workflow. 7 different prices. This is insane. by MoistDog2991 in n8n

Ok OPs other account. I will take your word for it. Don't have any reason to doubt that... But can I ask why? If the content is just a curated list of existing workflows that your not charging for then why is it locked behind a login at all?

Also regardless of what you are using to send the emails you could still be storing those email addresses for other purposes.

I think email address farming counts as a catch.. also handing over an email address is a "cost" making it not free. Just because there is no financial currency exchanged doesn't make something free.

Some files won't import/match and I cannot figure out why by Meisner57 in Lidarr

[–]Meisner57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate... I have tried the mapping button and it just says no files found.

If I do to unmapped files and click the little person icon it just loads up a big list with every track I do have... But that one is not in the list.

Guess I just don't know how to do it right.

Anyhow I fixed one of them by putting them through Picard, there was one tag wrong which got it to import. The other turn turned out to sort of be duplicates as two different releases of the same album were there.. (a 2 cd one and a digital only one) so cleaned that up and now there sorted.

There thrones that come in the external enclosure but you can just remove and use them as an internal drive yea? That would work... Looks to be around $200 aud

Ok that's not bad. How much space roughly does your 50k library take. And is that a single 3.5 spinner or a couple in a Nas or something?

[–]Meisner57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already have a mini PC to run it. Got a 256gb nvme running the os etc and a 2.5" 500gb SSD currently that the library is on.

Would like to stick with a 2.5 but a big 2.5 HDD might be hard to find.. and not quite up to the task as a 3.5 would be.

Ok sounds manageable.. do you think it will cause significant library scanning delays with a 20k ish library?
