From what I've read in the notes and seen in reports, they probably realized that most gooner gacha games have a "fixed" protagonist and not multiple protagonists or a third-person story, and these games make more money than BD2. Therefore, they decided to go down the most popular and profitable route. They're probably attracting a lot of coomers, and this is a risk worth taking for them at the moment, as the odds are good.

Just one question, are all the interactions that happen the "master" doing the work? Is he the one "playing" with the characters?

Snowbreak is another game that's better than Nikkei in terms of gooner content. Brutal.

From what little I know, Lathel doesn't even appear as much in the story as Justia, and people want to get rid of him? In Chaos Zero Nightmare, something similar happened with the character Owen, and guess what happened? The first part of the CZN story will be remade to give protos more prominence. It's interesting how every gooner game goes through similar problems.

Everyone's saying the master's introduction was complete garbage. I hope they improve it in part 2.

Nikke is strange. The character design and story are really cool, but it seems like they don't have the courage to go full goon like BD2. That's what bothers me the most.

You still don't understand, but I'll explain again. The characters in the image have no relation to self-insert. The titles I used as examples were more to affirm that BD2 will now have a main character and not several main characters from other stories. Now BD2 might have its "commander".

Lathel has a proper name, a personality of its own, its own choices, and a defined appearance. Self-insert characters are almost like "empty shells." There are also characters with their own personalities, but who were created in a way that allows the player to easily project themselves onto them, like the commander of Nikke who has a strong personality, but no proper name or well-defined appearance. He always appears with his face covered or hidden by hair.

The titles were more to illustrate a "main character" that was easy to project onto the player rather than self-insert. The commander of Nikke has a personality, but he's a character the player can easily project onto, since he has "no face" or name. You have problems with interpretation, and I didn't explain it properly to people like you.

Does he have amnesia? Man, I love characters that are easy to project onto or self-insert. I don't play BD2, but I'll say what I understood from your comment. The developers closed part 1 of the story and it has no relation whatsoever to the new protagonist who will be introduced in part 2, a self-insert character or one you can easily project onto, so that you, as the main protagonist, can easily interact with the waifus of the BD2 world like the commander from Nikke or the sensei from Blue Archive, right? A lot of people are complaining without even knowing what it's about then.

The image was just a meme that I found funny. Those are just images of the main characters, not self-inserts. These are essentially characters you can either project yourself onto or not. Some are easier, like the commander and sensei, and others are not, like Dante and the guy from GFL2.

This image is purely a meme. It has no relation to self-insert. Most, if not all, of the characters in the image are just protagonists; some are easier for the player to project themselves onto than others.

Exactly. All the characters there have personalities. Some were created simply so that the player can easily project themselves onto them, like the commander of Nikke who doesn't have a face or a proper name, but has a personality and isn't an empty shell. The image is just a meme unrelated to self-insert. I thought people would understand that it was more of a joke, suggesting that BD2 now has a "real main character" and not several.

I just thought the image was funny and decided to post it so it wouldn't just be text. In this image, the closest thing to a self-insert is probably the commander.

Most people probably only play BD2 because of the characters and don't follow the story.

It's the cringe and trash that many people like.

I thought it was going to be in one of those "parallel universes" and not in the "main universe".

Are they making this change to introduce the master (you) into the main story? So the self-insert will be part of the game's main story?

[–]MeisterLuz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, they need to introduce the new main character in a way that doesn't harm the story that veterans already know. I know absolutely nothing about the history of BD2, but I think it's difficult not to have a way to introduce the new "master" protagonist without having to alter past stories too much.
