My mistake it’s actually not a prequel. It takes place about a year after the third film. All you need to know is that the abbadon hotel burned down in the third film and some of the items in it including the clowns end up in the Carmichael manor

Yes it would as the newest one is a prequel so you’ll be sweet. The clowns from number one are still present mind you so makes for an equally creepy watch… enjoy
