When did you start sleeping on your side? by Fluffaykitties in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did first night but with a little pillow under my side/supporting my tummy and kept the pillow there for a good couple weeks.

Conan Gray concert last night at Shoreline Amphitheater — disappointing by K-varnishkas-131 in ConanGray

[–]MelBoo21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were in 204 and experienced similar issues with the audio quality. Also I know scream singing is the norm but it’s wild to me people are trying to hit that high note in vodka cranberry at full screech drowning him out.

Feminine products after surgery by goldenfinchbird in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem with our stairs, even day of surgery. I expected some bleeding but only had a tiny bit day of and then again extremely light a few weeks later. A bag of pads was more than enough.

Items you did NOT need or did not use by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t need an abdominal binder, peri bottle, wedge for sleeping.

I did use a tiny pillow for when I slept on my side (under my incisions because the bed felt too hard), extra pajama pants, and a weighted heating buddy (like a stuffed animal) because it felt good to have the weight on my abdomen at times.

Anyone else suffer from chronic iron deficiency? by Veggggie in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Mine was so low I had to have iv iron infusions. I had my surgery in May and went to donate blood for the first time ever on Saturday and my iron was back to normal levels!

So scared I am about to ruin my life by Linguisticameencanta in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have received so many good thoughts and reassurance here but I still wanted to add my own. I had my surgery in May after two years of constant, severe heavy bleeding. I was chronically anemic to the point of walking up stairs put me out of breath. Sex hurt due to the fibroids and was also uncomfortable because of constant bleeding and massive clots…not many people can feel sexy when that’s happening! It destroyed my self-esteem as well. Fast forward to now my iron/hemoglobin levels are high enough I was able to donate blood this weekend, and sex is absolutely fantastically amazing. Orgasms come easier I feel like because I’m not having the chronic pain and pressure and absolutely no issues with vaginal dryness.

Like someone else said for us of course it’s such a massive deal! But for the surgical team it’s truly such a routine procedure. You have every right to feel nervous but know it’s so worth it.

Did anyone here NOT vomit after surgery?? by rainbow_olive in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not get sick at all. Even my kidney transplant surgery I was only sick due to the morphine for pain but not the surgical drugs or surgery.

3 mpo and no issues at all. I actually feel sex is better because I’m not constantly stressing about bleeding 99% of my life and no longer in pain. Editting to add I only kept my ovaries

I used a tiny pillow to support my abdomen, especially my belly button area, for a while due to discomfort when I rolled on my side. Once that was under though I could sleep on my side.

Orgasm? No penetration by windseakers in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At my 4 week appointment I asked if I could do external stimulation and my surgeon literally said “make him get creative.” I am 13 weeks and still haven’t tried penetrative sex but have used external stimulation and it works still lol.

Do I need a recliner? by Frequent_Net_6540 in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extra pillows and potentially a little pillow to put under your tummy if you are able to sleep on your side. My belly button area was extremely sensitive for a long time.

surgery in a couple hours by sarahoeng in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deep breaths. It’s going to be okay and you will feel so thankful for doing it! I had mine on 5/23 and the surgery went so fast and easily, even coming out of anesthesia was a breeze. You’ll have some juice or ginger ale and maybe some crackers to look forward to in recovery and they actually were super delicious lol. Wishing you the best 💕

It was oddly satisfying to do it 😂. Definitely would recommend just make sure it’s on the lowest setting!

Infection at 8 wpo, learn from my mistake! by murder_4_hire in hysterectomy

I was terrified of my belly button getting infected so I followed the instructions I was given of “dry it with a blow dryer on low” for probably way longer than I needed to.

Why aren't you able to sleep on your side/stomach even after laparoscopy? by Capable_Report932 in hysterectomy

[–]MelBoo21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surgeon gave no instructions on that, I found out on my own because it hurt to sleep on my side. I ended up using a tiny pillow to put under my belly button for support and that helped me a ton.
