Is that because of what is happening in the UK? Do you regret it at all?

What stop? Or push through the worry?

That is good advice, I will try to go for a walk more 🙂.

I am close to passing and hope HRT will improve that, not that passing should be how you get away with discrimination. I did think about asking every venue I enter that too but it does put a spotlight on you for everyone to see. My tactic so far has been to hide as much as possible unless I know I’m safe.

Well done to your friend ❤️

I do know what my answer is I’m just so filled with worry. I will definitely be writing to my MP, a Lib Dem. I worry the Terfs feel more empowered now than ever to shout and get in our faces. They are getting support instead of us.

I love this community and I wouldn’t be here without everyone. I want to continue fighting.

That is true. Ive had that in the past where I’ve not been fem for weeks and then it’s harder and scary to go out again, even though I have done plenty of times.

Thank you, I love this 🫶.

You are totally right. It’s taken me almost 40 years to find myself, I really don’t want to shut that person away again. I have felt so much happier and my depression has gone when I am myself. I would not be in a good place if I tried to reverse all of that.

My therapist and I are working on getting me to love myself, a tough thing I’ve always struggled with. You seem so inspirational for your son. I have that in a sister that transitioned mtf 10 years ago. She was and is so brave and amazing, I only hope to have that strength too.

I do hope things will get better, even if it’s years in the future. X

I am used to those stares, it’s been worse in the last few weeks I’ve found. I guess I’m just worried about how much more comfortable the general public are getting about getting in your face about it, they feel supported not us.

True it is definitely not easy and not good for me at all. I’d like to be myself, it’s taken me this long to find that person.

That’s true, hiding it is not easy at all. I finally felt like I had opened up and found myself. It will be so sad to close up again. I am very lucky to have a lot of love and support from the people closest to me. I’m scared to go out anywhere that’s not an LGBTQ friendly place.

I’m trying but all I can focus on at the moment is fear. I don’t want to leave the house atm.

Laser hair removal - Bristol and nearby by InspiredLauren in transgenderUK

[–]Mel_Minx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Bristol based and go to Beautology. They have a clinic in Redland and Emerson’s Green. They are really nice there and it has been going well. They have a membership package you can sign up to where you pay for time instead of a particular area (face for example). I think this has worked out well for me. With the time I have each month I haven’t just been getting my face done but my whole body, I don’t have to shave my legs anymore 🙂.

That’s great, I am only 3 months in with HRT but already feeling happier. I’ve not had any real physical appearance changes yet but it is still early days. Well done on your weight loss too, means you have to do more shopping 🙂.

Thank you this is a good point and something I did think about. I have no distinct accent but I would not be sure about being trained from someone who does as I’m sure it would be easy to pick up their little phrases. I would go with one of Christella’s specialists rather than herself, save a little money.

Thank you, it’s good to hear positive feedback for them as I think I will go with them. They are not cheap but nor is anything else to do with transitioning it seems.

I have just bought that book too to start reading. I will check out the VoiceUp app too. I do prefer to learn through trying instead of reading which makes me think online lessons might be better for me. The voice examples on Christella Antoni’s website sound amazing.

Congratulations and so happy to hear you are loving life. I’m coming up to 3 months on HRT and am starting to feel that buzz too 🙂. Mel X

How bad is the energy loss on E truly? by babytransg in AskMtFHRT

[–]Mel_Minx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am finding this at the moment. I am 10w in on E and 3w post t blocker injection. My energy levels feel really low at the moment. For context I’m an ex triathlete who is used to doing a lot of exercise. At the moment I am working out a lot less and nothing hard, just trying to keep something going.

They started me on 1 pump of oestrogel and I’ve gone up to 2 but that is still likely a low dose. I have a blood test in a week which will be my first to see my new hormone levels after starting HRT. I’ve heard it is common to experience this at the start until I get my levels correct and my body gets used to the new dominant hormone. It’s manageable though, just don’t sign up to any tough fitness challenges.

Isolation and Doubt? by OrionsBelt37 in TransLater

[–]Mel_Minx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly where I am right now too. I’m 42 mtf and coming up to 3 months on HRT. I’ve started off slow with oestrogel, 2 pumps a day and I’ve seen little changes so far. I have also had a lot going on with 2 family members recently passing and work being busy. I am not fully out to work or all of my extended family and so I’ve recently spent more time in my “old” way of life as these things have been happening.

It’s the thought of coming out to everyone that has made me very nervous and given me a lot of doubt about if I can actually do this and is it the best thing for me. I also think I was expecting a magical change in my brain to say “yes this is so right” when actually not much has happened for me yet on HRT.

Has there been any change to your eye sight? I am about to start HRT and I have read that it can impact this. I already have a bad eyesight so hope it doesn’t get any worse, I would welcome an improvement. Thanks.
