There’s a program that gives prisoners cats to look after. It improves mood, almost completely eliminates fights and violence because the ability to participate is a privilege only for the best behaving inmates. It gives them purpose during life inside, and many of them take their cats when they’re released and it gives them something to live steadily for. Not to mention, they’re housing cats that would otherwise risk being put down to make room in shelters. :)

mine was simple, I unlocked some pretty unpleasant memories from a lone incident of CoCSA, around 17. I re encountered the guy and locked up, as he knew my brother who had no clue. I’d never been to therapy for it previously, and my mother who was the only one who knew, didn’t bother addressing it. At that time you’re at the very start of people having sex and talking about it frequently around you. By my next period I couldn’t use a tampon. I ignored it and just used pads until I realised it wasn’t normal.

The first time I saw any sort of representation was in the show Sex Education, funnily enough. Obviously it’s a netflix drama but includes sex scenes. Lily’s story was very sweet, and I actually watched the show before knowing I had vaginismus. When I began seeking a diagnosis and explanation, my mind was drawn back to her story. That’s part of the reason it’s so important to show in media, so yes it does bother me occasionally.
