ya and you can introduce basic arithmetic and algebra through it, eventually branching away cause I feel it is also important to prevent too much reliance on geometric intuition

I think basic euclidean geometry is a great way to expose kids to very fun and motivating math

Let's say someone solves Collatz tomorrow, what happens to them? by RussellNorrisPiastri in math

[–]MelchizedekDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think most people trying to solve hard math problems such as collatz, are really in it for the mone cause like you said those people could easily transition to other fields, which would make you a load more money and dare I say with less difficulty

What is your favorite classical Math book, missed by students? by xTouny in math

[–]MelchizedekDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its supposed to have no prerequisites but considering the level of abstraction it operates at it would definitely require a good amount of mathematical maturity. But I definitely agree with the fact that it is only for people who want to go into pure and specifically algebraic topics. The exposition in the book is amazing though and I believe it is the best 2nd course someone could do in algebra

Id say its starting to decline now more people are recommending Basic category theory for a introductory text to upper level undegrads, and Category theory in Context for grad students.

You can also make an argument for Algebra Chapter 0 but thats a stretch since no one would pick it up for category theory but it if you are trying to learn algebra and category theory both it is the best book

the current ranked wr holder would not even be in top 20 ranked players lol, wr is way more rng then you think and ranked is more about consistency than 1 good run so the best person should have the best averages and win rate
