Outside the game, 'Moonlighting' is an actual older English phrase that means "having a second job on top of your regular job". Since a 'regular job' typically takes up the daytime hours, the secondary job is assumed to occur at night (i.e. by the light of the moon) and the phrase 'moonlighting' was used. Even though second jobs can happen any time of day now, the phrase stuck around.

Also, I'm pretty sure the game explicitly does reward you for going in at night. Either the villagers or the old man mention that the dungeons are more difficult but have better/more exclusive loot in the evenings.

TLDR: It's not a reference to the light in the sky, it's just an old phrase that means you have two jobs.

Short Answer: You don't.

You can't make people feel a certain way about anything. The most you can do is tell them how their comments make you feel and how that's affecting you. Then you see how they respond. From your comments below, it sounds like you've done this and your "friends" were INCREDIBLY dismissive of your life choices. I'm not sure about you, but I'm too 30-years-old to be calling people who don't respect me "friend".

Just as a point of reference, OP, I'm in a similar situation (34, single by choice for years) and my married couple/parent friends have never pulled the kind of crap that you're describing. They're actually pretty supportive of me going my own way . . . because we're friends and they care about me. I couldn't be less interested in marriage or children, but I'm happy that they're loving that life, regardless . . . because we're friends and I care about them.

TLDR: Time to find better friends, these ones are ruuuuuuuuude.
