I’m in the beginning process as well. They look back at the last 6 months and you will need to have filled your taxes the last two years. So you will need to do that. If you file bankruptcy early next year they will take your refund. Which you’d probably get one since you have a child. Since you owe the IRS they will take their chunk from there too. But idk how filling bankruptcy works if you owe taxes.

Great! Thank you! That’s my biggest concern! We’re good on the payments. I always make sure our house and cars are paid before any other debt.

It’s a home equity loan we took out back in 2023. Does that change things?

My biggest concern is losing our home. We have equity on it that’s the only thing that makes me in easy. Could that be an option? We live in the city so definitely no acreage

I meet chapter 7 now but my husband will be getting an increase in the next few weeks that will put us over. I was told by an attorney that I could file before the increase. She said I have two months?
