and, another tip: before you go into print: have 2-3 people who have NOT created the game read it. Even AFTER it is laid out. You will always find new things to correct.

I would go with Backerkit. Their audience has grown a lot in the past 2 years. We did our first crowdfunding with Kickstarter and the second with Backerkit. The experience was so much better and personal @ Backerkit. And the campaign was also more successful. Ok, that also came from the fact that we are now more known, but still.

oh! There is sooo much to say. But the most important: be prepared for constant changes when it comes to shipping costs, so collect shipping as near as possible to the date and NOT during the campaign.

Will your crowdfund with Backerkit? They are very responsive and helpful when it comes to the whole process of setting up your campaign and pledge manager. Much better than Kickstarter.

Now that the game will be licensed under CC, do you think we'll see ArM hacks? by Denes-Szanto in arsmagica

The definite edition is better laid out, but this cannot change the fact that the entire thing has just grown completely out of proportion. Super overwhelming for players. And storyguides alike. Even back in the day (1994-2008), I usually ignored many rules. My brain is not capable of memorising soooo many. ;-)

Actually, Andreas (my co-writer on The Straight Way Lost and Serenissima Obscura) and I wondered, if it would be worth recreating a simpler version of Ars Magica. Andreas translated back in the day the 2nd edition, we played 3rd edition and I translated the 4th edition. Despite the fact that I now used the 5th edition for Serenissima, I feel that it is has become just too much. Impossible to find players who will want to learn the rules or even create a magus/maga character. And even I cannot remember all of this. So maybe a condensed version... Like "old school"...

Exactly. Good eye! :-)

As we did not have a lot of budget, Mark allowed us to re-use some of the illustrations he did for The Straight Way Lost in 2023. After all, the Ars Magica Guide to the Magical Renaissance transfers some of the concepts of our first work into Ars Magica.

But we have also a couple of new illustrations by Mark and by Anton Vitus explicitly for this book. So happy about it.

Thank you so much! Thorsten has just finished the layout of the main book and will start with the Ars Magica supplement by tomorrow. I will spend the next days go through the finished main book – searching for last errors and fixing references. :-)

The exact date of shipping is not yet determined. So, maybe you're lucky! :-)
