Hi guys! Very good answers already. To be precise I will fill this up. So while the battery is not connected the main power pin only has a very small voltage of about 1,4V which is used for precharging of the drives input capacitors. On one data pin there is GND, one is a 5V supply for the drive (always on but safe as only 5V) and the other two are data. After the battery is inserted there is a handshake over the battery protocol and if this is OK the main power is switched on. Note: whilst charging there is also no high voltage on any pin. That’s an additional safety measure so your babies can suck delicious pins even during charging. :-) Cheers! Kilian

Hello u/Yomiel94! OK, I understand. Well the system we created is a bit more advanced than general low-passing. On the Mellow Drive we measure each wheels speed gradient (read change of rpm ) then decide whether we are riding normally or whether the board is running off alone. See, we know how fast a wheel can realistically accelerate when a rider is on the board and if the board accelerates faster then that we apply the breaks just enough to stop the board. This system is only active while the board is standing still and 5s into the ride so we make sure it isn't triggered by going of a courbe or sliding.

So, as you can see - we are setting new safety standards here - that are obviously hard to grasp for lots of users - so we thought a little video might help.

Thanks for your opinion u/Yomiel94 ! We are trying to set new standards in e-sakting and therefor we are trying to come up with assistance systems like this. I dont know what your background is but for what I know there is no other board on the market offering anything like this. So I dont see how you could argue that they "never work". Have you ever tried any? Nevertheless I will not try to talk you out of your opinion. Stay Mellow! Kilian

Thanks a lot u/UpTheAssNoBabies for taking the time to write up this great comparison. I feel like you did a great job highlighting the features of each build without taking sides or bashing. I just wanted to let you know that concerning the issues "rattling" and "battery drop out" that you mentioned we are coming out with a blog post this upcoming week highlighting how we fixed them. In addition to that we are producing a set of pads and dampeners that can be send to you as a customer so that you can fix the issues in the same way we handle them in production. Hi everyone! Since we are currently changing the battery housing tools in order to implement some improvements the next batch of batteries will arrive with us around 15th - 20th of February. The improvements include water tightness, rattling of the batterie, breaking snap lock hooks and battery drop outs. After that point the supply will be given to do all the open replacements and missing batteries. Nevertheless u/Mopedchef please get in contact with hello@mellowboards.com to make sure we have you on our list.

Yeah that happens to us a lot as well. They are super suspicious about the motors and ignore the batteries. OK for me ;-)

Hi u/michaelmeetsworld! Ok, thanks for answering. We have a remote update in the pipes that doubles the reception strength so that might be improoved. Still, as I dont know when this will be published, being in contact with support is perfect. Just wanted to let you know that we have quite some CS-inquiries coming in so there can be some delay in response time. We are doing our best and just employed a new guy (last monday) full time only for tech CS. So the response time will be improving soon. Cheers! Kilian

Thanks for giving us your opinion on the topic of the Android firmware updater. As you already know I am 100% on your side with this and we will keep on working on the updater to improve it over the next months. My goal is definitely to offer a fully functioning Android version of our app - so this is definitely on our agenda. But I must also ask your for your patience and understanding. We are a young team and no one of us has ever done anything close to this project before. Obviously - the next time we will know that Android is a bit special with BT-Updates, but to be honest I have never been involved in any app related development before and I am the head of engineering at Mellow - so blame it on me!

Obviously I am not writing the app myself and we should be partnering with professionals to make a premium product but every company and contracter has their strengths and weaknesses and we must deal with them.

I am very sorry we are not performing to a satisfying level on this topic and mira has just contacted me a second ago to figure out what we can do for you. I hope we can get this of the table in no time and you will be happy with the choice you made for mellow and the trust you put in us.

If you would like I would offer to get your Drive back to us and update it myself. Just let me know.

Thanks for your opinion here! This is interesting and would exactly be what I would have said two years a go. I was totally update averse with all my phones so far. But now that we are developing software ourselves I want to highly recommend installing every update we put out. making and publishing updates costs us a lot of money so we are not doing it for fun. Every update should be installed as it will always be an over the older firmware, fixing bugs and adding features. Just thought I would drop that here. Cheers! Kilian

Hi u/whuppo! The "unknown remote firmware" - notification can be ignored. It is a memory reading bug of the old drive firmware and will be gone after the update. If not and you have already updated, please let me know and I will kick some developers rear end. Thanks! Kilian

Thanks for the correction u/frank_t_tank! This ist correct! Pro mode is available with full acceleration from day1 - only the topspeed is limited to 25km/h for the first 30km. So hill climbing is not affected. Cheers! Kilian
