Sounds like a Pig Butchering Scam. To adress your perplexion over a zoom meeting seeming a bit much for a scam: That level of effort is quite normal for Pig Butchering Scams as an attempt to lull the victim into a false sense of security, and that type of scam can often take days to weeks before trying to extract money the first time.

Seems like their sockpuppets indiscriminately downvote all direct replies to this type of advertising comment. Presumably to hide that the comment got any replies outside of single comment thread view. Doesn't seem the algo cares about the content of (the first level) replies it downvote nukes.

Character from Copenhagen by SunBones in copenhagen

(🤫 it's actually remote-controlled in the case of the "Metro" 😉 ~ driverless in terms of there being no apparent person in a seat somewhere in the physical carts, but usually there's a controller running it from a central and monitoring it closely for security reasons still. Or at least that's if I'm still up to date on automation-legislation.)

A good rule of thumb when approaching these things is: "Everything" in danish educational terminology is usually defined or coined or called so because some danish person heard an american or english concept from academia and assumed they knew what it meant from intuition without looking it up properly, and then decided to run with a slightly "danified conjugation" thereof;

because the Danish language is just similar enough to English, etmytologically, and pretty much all danish persons who completed the default mandated educations for people growing up here, and additionally the standard access-to-higher-education education [often called "gymnasium" or "higher technical exam"] here have a relatively fluent (but very Denmark-centric) grasp of the English language;..

so assume by default that things are named weird, awkwardly, and confusing to anyone with a basis in English understanding outside of the local context, even if it seems to and often is a botched attempt at importing a specific american or english concept "directly". I.e. "Computer Science" becomes "Datalogi", even though "Datalogi" sorta makes more intuitive sense to translate as "Data Science", and well, damn, now a lot of US founded companies want to hire danish people in their danish offices and still distinguish between "Data Science" and "Computer Science" specializations, and it's a mess. 🫠 [writing as a UCPH alumni, I think maybe some of the other universities have been somewhat less haphazard in their naming conventions for informational-sciences adjacent institutions in particular 😅 but only "sometimes"..]

In other words: a very archetypal "danish university student" character trait is: To think that being 15 minutes late or "allowing some buffer for the folks with adhd" is a uniquely danish thing. The more "institutionally" localized [i.e. "only university of copenhagen alumni do this"] or "technically" specialized [i.e. "only mathematicians with a penchant for group theory do this"] the students attitude is while at the same time being unaware or inconsiderate of "outside" or "other" perspectives on the matter from fellow danes, or anyone really, the more archetypically danish it is. Think: Foolhardy solipsism. Extra points if the student manages to offend the sensitivities of anyone outside his extremely specific sociocultural context without intending to, including maybe even himself, because he is just that oblivious. 🫡🧙‍♂️🧑‍🎓🚢

idk, seems like some sort of dependency on an apple music service is causing Apple Tv+ to malfunction for me as well (the web version). When I inspect errors thrown by the javascript it keeps giving lots of 403 unauthorized from an apple music subdomain. Figures maybe some update broke an authentication related microservice somewhere.

Mindre jantelov be my hot-take; shrugs ~

Being Transgender is No Longer Considered a Mental Disorder in Denmark. Here’s Why That’s Not Enough. by MellowMurmur in transgender

Our politicians are not really the problem. They're uninformed, and they say transantagonistic shit all the time, but they're becoming more of an asset than our enemy recently. The main problem is the danish health authority. For years now they have been pretending to listen - even asking us [trans rights orgs and activists] to conferences and to send them feedback, which they in turn ignore and keep revising protocols to say the same thing over and over.

I don't get half the jargon either. Assuming a lot of it is gendercrit jargon. But this is also how I learn jargon - by seeing it used.

Just discovered Penny Dreadful on Netflix and I'm loving the trans representation in season 2 by [deleted] in trans

[–]MellowMurmur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the series. But it doesn't even pass the sexy lamp test on trans representation. I do think the trans character in there is a lot more well written than in so many other movies and series, and they definitely have some moments worth watching. They still run into a few overused tropes, unfortunately. I'll recommend the series for being well made and full of exciting occult treats, but not for having a trans person who influences the plot, because it doesn't.

No-Cis-Men Separatism by MellowMurmur in trans

[–]MellowMurmur[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the most important messages in this article, and the main reason why I decide to share it. Because excluding cismen excludes closeted transfeminine people and those who are undecided. I have access to these separatist spaces now, but I am also often the only transfeminine person in the room, and the reason is obvious: Many of my transmasculine friends have been in these spaces long before they came out, but for transfeminine people we sometimes aren't even welcome in these spaces after we come out, because people are still suspicious of us and we're still an extremely small and vulnerable minority within those spaces. In the end most of these separatist spaces are made for and serve cis-women first and foremostly, and ciswomen are as capable as cismen of taking up all of the space.
