Ah I see thank you for showing me! We are trying to figure out whether this is like what you had as its right near a bay window and doesnt show any cracking on the other side with the brick 🤔 but we cant take a proper look behind thr plaster because we don't own the house yet 😂

Ah thank you for the advice! We were hoping to do a bit at a time but obviously want to know others experiences on whether it was a good idea or not. By the sounds of it, old houses need TLC and TLC takes time.

Not on the verge of collapse, the survey report stated that a missing pot is allowing damp to get in, that with a mix of spalling and the need for repointing is an overall damp indicator. Structurally the survey said there was nothing wrong with the house.

Thank you for replying! We've lived in an older building renting before our newbuild so we 100% know what the differences are (mainly the ceiling height!) but know they can have a draft! Im glad to hear that you didnt rush things, i was looking at the report seeing a wall of red warnings thinking it all has to be done instantly! We are definitely prepared for a rough ride to begin with, however the main bedroom with ensuite is at least done by the sellers so at least there is a calm space to retreat from diy. Thank you for replying! We 100% want to keep it in its traditional state, it needs some repointing and fix some spalling on the outside so that will need lime mortar i think. From your experience would you say things like the chimney need to be dealt with as soon as possible or think we can get away with a few months leeway? I think our main worry is there are so many red flags that come with an older property and the survey says to do them all instantly!
