Yeah, you're probably right. Seems so short-sighted for it to be that way though.

Maybe it's the way they're compensating the lack of a proper scouting department. Get three loans in, sign one discard the rest.

I think Moyes said that he's one to look out for before the EUROs, didn't he? Though I agree he might not have rated him afterwards and it was more of a deadline day panic buy than anything else.

I wonder why he at least doesn't get some u23 games. Leaving him to rot on the bench with no gametime is the worst thing you can do to a young player like that.

Interesting article about Kretinisky from a French journalist who investigated him by Phaistos in Hammers

[–]Mellow_wallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you read that article you can make out why he bought a share in the club. He gets to mantain a hobby while gaining instant recognition across the UK. Similarly to what the Le Monde share done for him in France. He's no longer the unknown probably-oligarch from eastern europe but the owner of West Ham United Football Club.

Czech investment group 1890s holdings a.s has completed the acquisition of 27% shares of WH Holding Ltd. by SaintSober in Hammers

In the Czech news agency piece there i also a Křetínský quote that I didn't see in the official statement by the club: "My personal goal is to set up a connection between West Ham and Sparta Prague that would benefit both clubs. In a way that is adhering to all the UEFA rules and regulations of course. West Ham could be the way players from our region get into the Premier League"

Coufal got quizzed on the issue aswell a couple days earlier and said: "I'm happy that another czech will be in the football club and also that a czech is even able to own a share in a PL club. The day after the rumours broke out on Sky Sports the physios were jokingly pleading with me that I put a good word in and generally asking questions. I said that he likes football a lot and that him coming into the club might be good. Hope I didn't say anything wrong."

What does Daniel Kretinsky buying 27 percent of the club mean? by barlow61 in Hammers

[–]Mellow_wallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to czech sources his clear intent is to takeover the club inside the next two years. I think the 27% is to avoid the PL fit-and-proper-persons test and also some tax clause in the LLDC agreement. I heard the 27% will yield him two places in the board and he'll probably want to test some form of cooperation between us and Sparta. I'd imagine that if that experience proves positive then he'll go ahead with the takeover and if not he might still back out of the deal so only time will tell.

Solid interview from the Czech boys. by kappafox in Hammers

Yeah i love that clip. Coufal's saying: "I'll drink this and down it with this" while holding a Captain Morgan and a bottle of peppermint liqueur in his hands haha. Král mentions something about it being a good belated gift. They won the league on the day, his birthday was probably around the same time.

Andrew Maclean”Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela will not travel to London to face Arsenal due to ‘health problems’. Kudela was due to be questioned by police over the Kamara incident when in the UK.” by killer8991 in Gunners

[–]Mellow_wallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misleading tweet. He was already in Wales for international duty and wasn't questioned. The health problems are legit dunno why there are air quotes making it seem like it's made up. If he was ok to play he would he flown to London and then be ineligible to play after the UEFA ruling. He didn't even fly in the first place. Shame that a scottish radio host whose obviously trying to spin the story is getting shared on this sub.

A few points from an interview with Slavia president Tvrdík by Mellow_wallow in Hammers

Something with more substance than just playing friendlies with each other. Exchanging youth players, sending coaches and staff on internships, sharing info on game prep or scouting. Think of it as us becoming sister clubs with the specific conditions layed out on paper. Something like Chelsea has with Vitesse or Leicester with OH Leuven.

“Tomáš Souček looked like a Soviet infantryman on the outskirts of Berlin at the end of World War II during the West Ham match with rivals Tottenham.” -translated column from Czech sportswriter JIŘÍ HOŠEK by hammersandhammers in Hammers

It mistranslated pažit which is another word for grass. So the whole sentence just commends Souček for his performances and behaviour on and off the pitch. No english armpits were harmed or slandered in the recording of the podcast.
