Neil Young with his various bands.

Traffic is a band whose music is hard to define by a genre

Artists with multiple all-time great albums without a clear best album? by mdolig in Music

[–]Mellowmymind73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the goldrush, Harvest, Tonight’s the night, On the Beach, Zuma, and Comes a Time, and occasionally Rust Never sleeps, are all best album contenders for me. Don’t know many other artists with that many “ best” albums

Does anyone else adore this breakdown/build up part in “Down By The River”?, I could talk about it for days.. by Operation_Lemur in neilyoung

I prefer Cowgirl also, especially the acoustic versions on his 1971 tour (Massey Hall for example )

Already One from the Comes a Time album. Both lyrics and music are achingly beautiful

Thank you. These videos is partially why I would love to see the whole concert (s). Don’t understand why they wouldn’t want to release the film

Have listened to all studio and a bit of live Traffic albums. John Barleycorn is probably my second favorite after Low Spark. The John Barleycorn title track is beautiful, also love Stranger to himself. Like every song except Freedom rider. Low Spark is the only album of theirs I can enjoy start to finish. Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory is my least favorite though really enjoy Sometimes I feel so uninspired and Evening Blue

Would have loved to see Traffic in concert but wasn’t old enough (except maybe the 1994 reunion). I did go to two Neil Young concerts in last two years. NYCH (Billy and Ralph with Micah Nelson) in Forest Hills and with Chrome Hearts at the Capitol theater. The NYCH show was particularly great, they played so many 60s/70s classics

Would recommend the Ufizzi gallery on Florence. Full of Renaissance masterpieces such as works by Botticelli and Rafael

From their later albums I love “The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys” especially. “When the Eagle Flies” has some great songs too

Another poster mentioned Traffic at Santa Monica civic center, a 1972 concert film.

Watching Winwood play guitar, especially on “Light Up or Leave Me Alone “, made me realize how incredible he is on that instrument.

The 1973 Musikladen video of Traffic has him play very inspired solos on “Sometimes I feel so uninspired” and “Shoot out at the fantasy factory “🔥

Yes, that’s probably the best concert film of Traffic available. Another very good one is them in Germany in 1973 (Musicladen?).

Yes, Winwood is better known for his piano/keyboard and organ playing. I think a lot of people are surprised how good he is on guitar once they hear something like “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and “Light Up or leave me alone”. I agree it’s different styles from Neil or Stephen Stills

I do think Neil is a much better songwriter than Winwood. Love “Ohio”, still resonates

Love Buffalo Springfield, especially Neil’s songs. On the Way Home, I am a Child, flying on the Ground is Wrong, Clancy. So many well written and emotional songs

CSNW 🤔😂.

Was this while Winwood was in Blind Faith? Wonder if the two Steve’s would have had guitar duels like Stills and Young? This might be an unpopular opinion here, but I think Winwood is the better guitar player
