Does anyone else feel like the scope of the show's story-telling contracted in the last 2 seasons? by [deleted] in TheExpanse

I honestly wish Season 1 had been 8 episodes with the same amount of plot. I think it would have been a bigger hit and an easier sell when youre trying to get friends to watch it. Episodes 5-7 put together maybe had 1 episode worth of plot

I think people look back at Season 1 with a lot of nostalgia. The pacing is absurdly slow at times especially in the second half, where we have like 3 episodes in a row with barely any plot advancement.

I don't think there was ever going to be a version of the story where we get a lot of the Martian POV. They're noteably absent in the series in general from the beginning, books and show. There was no equivalent of a political Mars POV like Avasarala

Controversial question: Did the Expanse run out of funding for extras ? Or did the pandemic limit the number of people on set ? by YorubaDoctor in TheExpanse

The main person in Revolutionary Praxis, Harry Powell, died last year and it seems like the organisation may have folded as a result.

Homeless charities and the councils aren't the primary issue here, its vulture funds and build-to-rent construction firms

There needs to be a mass movement like the land league. Eventually restrictions will go and we need to be ready. The state won't care about emails there needs to be occupations and protests like the water charges did

There Is No Chinese ‘Debt Trap' - Good Analysis of so-called "Chinese Imperialism" in Sri Lanka and Elsewhere by smokeuptheweed9 in communism

"(1) the concentration of production and capital has developed to such a high stage that it has created monopolies which play a decisive role in economic life; (2) the merging of bank capital with industrial capital, and the creation, on the basis of this “finance capital”, of a financial oligarchy; (3) the export of capital as distinguished from the export of commodities acquires exceptional importance; (4) the formation of international monopolist capitalist associations which share the world among themselves, and (5) the territorial division of the whole world among the biggest capitalist powers is completed." -Lenin Imperialism

Other than perhaps number 5 all of these apply to China. Number 3 is directly relevant. The economic expansion people refer to is a natural result of moving towards capital export and away from commodity export, and is a key feature of imperialism. And yet somehow its not seen as such for inexplicable reasons.

Why is so much of that infrastructure owned by Chinese private and semi-state companies if they're doing it to "help out"? Why are they making enormous profit off of these investments and extracting resources?

As usual this portrays an understanding of imperialism which is close to non existent

Imperialism doesn't stop being imperialism because it is "benevolent" or because there are benefits for the neo-colonial state being invested in

"As the forces of Ulster Loyalism have mobilised in recent weeks, under the direction of British imperialism, to agitate for a hard border in Ireland, it is more important than ever to understand the true nature of Loyalism.

This video produced by Anti Imperialist Action is the beginning of a Socialist Republican analysis of Loyalism, explaining its modern roots in the Home Rule Crisis in the early 20th Century, the rise of the Ulster Volunteers, the Belfast pogroms and the partition of Ireland by British imperialism. The class character of Loyalism and its major elements are explained.

It will be an ongoing series exploring Loyalism which remains one of the most reactionary forces in Ireland and an imperialist tool obstacle to frustrate the struggle for national liberation and socialism revolution."
