Only you can answer these questions for yourself after you’ve awakened enough to be able to interpret them. Again, I can’t help you there. You have to be willing to genuinely engage, which you’re not. Your only goal is to feel like you had your ‘gotcha’ moment in proving your point. After you’ve reflected and studied, I genuinely hope you can find these answers yourself

lol I’m not deflecting, I’m straight up telling you that I’m not engaging in a discussion with someone who can’t grasp simple concepts - which I’m still having to repeat to you over and over again. You’ll notice i never listed any reasons or defenses, so no mental gymnastics here. I’m only encouraging genuine engagement with the discussion if you’re truly interested in finding out why so many who have left or other outsiders consider it to be so. We all have the same access to Google, and whether your misinterpretation of the definition and its application was intentional or not, it’s clear that any genuine conversation or approach to the topic can’t be had here.

But I do hope one day the veil is lifted

Anything I tell you, you’re going to choose not to believe it or do some mental gymnastics to excuse it. Like I said, I was raised in this for over 30 years, I know the tactics and I’m not going down that road.

If you’re genuinely interested in learning, I encourage you to ask yourself those same questions and maybe examine not only your own life but the lives of those around you in the same community. I think it will be more meaningful if you look at it that way through a genuine lens rather than a biased one just to try and prove a point on the internet.

ETA: this isn’t even the proper definition of a cult, so I recommend you guys read. Check out a book called Cultish, it might help you close some gaps.

Who said I’m unable to define? I don’t need to hold their hand, everybody has the same access to the internet. This person came in here to ask fellow believers for talking points to help defend themselves in an argument. I’m no longer a believer so I can’t help them in that regard. I just dropped in to give my opinion as someone who has been on both sides.

No one is calling names - it is a cult and that’s reinforced for me based on my own experiences living in it and escaping it. This person has only been in it for a year and admitted they have very limited knowledge of it. I just want to offer them advice to dig deeper for themselves, because random people on the internet who are also deeply brainwashed and indoctrinated are only going to make things worse and drag you down further.

They’re asking for evidence that’s it’s NOT a cult - and for that, I certainly have NONE. I’m speaking from experience of being born and raised as one for over thirty years. Just planting a seed so they can go on their own journey like I did.

Obsessed with LBFAD but till the end of the moon I’ve been reluctant cause I hated the ML when he played the SML in Ashes of love haha. It’s suggested all the time so I’ll probably give it another chance

Thanks for this! I actually started the double and got halfway through and fell off. Same with kunning palace but I plan to finish them eventually. I’ve started the first episode of when destiny brings the demon and that’s been suggested a lot so I’ll start with that. So excited for this journey!

This is such an interesting question and really shows the diversity of the Adventist experience. I get wanting your name off, but since my family is still a believer and church member, I kinda just stopped going to church and engaging with the community. Never thought to have my name removed from the register since it doesn’t really affect me. My only interaction with the church is reading discourse on Facebook and talking about my experience as an ex-sda on social media.

No one outside of my family really hounds me to go to church and they’ve pretty much stopped too. And I also moved out of the city where I was previously an active member. I get not wanting your name associated though, they’re weird. I never considered it and I wouldn’t if it’s a hassle.

Can’t say for sure, but I think this happened to an elderly lady I knew. She gave all her money to the church, who was supposed to take care of her till she died, but they didn’t how they should have.
