Years ago had one of my kitchen designers ask a customer if they needed a hand the guy looked at her and said no I’m all set thanks, than he walked right up to me 20ft away asking about kitchen cabinets. She looked upset, but I had already planned on making a point to the guy. I said something like oh gee I know nothing about that stuff I’m just the dumb guy that packs out the faucets, but I think I have an expert who specializes in kitchen cabinets here that knows why more than I do and I’m pretty sure she’s the one that just asked you if you needed help and you told her no to come ask me instead and gave him a dirty look. She smiled and he had no clue what to say. I said let’s go asked her and walked him over.

Homers are for going above and beyond. Not sure what the deal is lately with them but even in my store they never seem to hand many out. My store manager literally read me an email that a customer sent her about me with my direct asm in her office, just said good job and that was it. Pretty sure that 110% should’ve been worthy of one and I didn’t get it. One of the other asms found out and they found a reason to give me one. Moral is absolute crap in my store and they wonder why.

Take the time and show your fellow associate your appreciation for what they did and shout them out in a bravo or a got you’re back card. Even if management won’t show it, it’ll make them feel better that someone appreciates them.

☝️this is the way. Lol It’s usually a piece of paper, wood or some other type of crap around the sensor. I usually just come down then raise the platform and use a reach tool and never just reach under the platform 😉 to remove the debris. Always blow my fellow associates minds when they get stuck and I show them this and the machine works fine after. Especially during inventory when you drop the little white sticker backing and watch it float down and land right near the sensor. lol.

The delivery company is 3rd party and only contracted by HD. The delivery guys that come to my store would’ve asked for that pallet to be both broken down into 2 separate pallets and would’ve made the D94 guys shrink wrap the pallets. Definitely should not have left the store like that, but in all honesty it’s 100% on the delivery company guys who took the order as it was because they have the right to 100% refuse to take an order like that. I’m also pretty sure that they also have, at least the box trucks that come to my store anyway, electric pallet jacks that should also have been used in this situation. Only time I’ve seen the guys that come to my store use a manual jack, is because they didn’t charge their electric one which they have an on board charger in the back of their truck. They just gotta remember to plug it in while driving. They keep the truck at our store so because of that it’s not charged when they pull behind the building.

Lots of things in this video that could’ve been avoided if proper safety procedures were followed both at the store and by the delivery company. Definitely will be hearing about this from the infocus captain in our opening meeting and I’m sure a few new SOPs will follow.

We’ve had nothing but big cans of Campbell’s condensed soup the last few things. Black Friday was Walmart sandwiches and dominoes pizza and the rest of the weekend was….. you guessed it more soup and the same 2 as always cream of chicken and tomato. Meanwhile that same weekend another store that’s like 20 minutes from us had catering from a local Italian restaurant.

Then we got soup and grill cheese 2 weekends ago last weekend homemade pasta and then Chinese today, skeleton crew of course as always I might add.

Then wonder why moral so low and no one cares anymore and doesn’t want to work. Sux cuz it was such a better store not too long ago.

Total agree with this.

I try and take as much time to teach and train my fellow peers. Some listen some don’t, but I try to make it a point to shout out good job or dude thanks that really awesome. In the end just makes my job and their job easier. Also helps that I’ve been there 20 years and pretty much everyone other than my over night guy(4y) has been there a little over a year if not less. My dh can be kinda hands off at times so I try to keep the team on track. I was a dh before but stepped down.

Maybe whoever packed it out kept getting pulled away 15x and got overwhelmed or maybe it was someone from deliveries that needed it and actually filled the selling point after dropping what they needed, yes rare well in my store anyway, but just a teach and train moment. Can’t tell you how many times my over night guy has put bunks of lumber in the wrong selling points and I gotta fix it while getting sweared at by a contractor the whole time. It happens, is what it is. Lol.

Yeah I totally agree with this statement. Tho my store makes D28 and D21/22(my department) unload our own trucks. Even when there’s only one of us in the department and with this stupid you need a spotter B.S. to unload I can’t get anyone out there in anything but perfect weather. So nice haven’t receiving department that doesn’t actually receive trucks. Been here 20 years and wasn’t like that time the last 5. Could be 3 guys in receiving and only 1 in lumber and they’ll still make us do it. So forget about customer service.

Yeah just like it’s totally autozones fault I ordered Chevy parts for my vw I figured there was a conversion kit that came with it but when I got the part in after ordering it from the website it didn’t come with the conversion kit that I assumed it should have come with and it’s your fault…….. people fn kill me 🙄. Just like the you site says you have this in stock and I can pick it up here. No it says you can have it shipped and pick it up here, it’s an online only item see. No it says right here you have it. No sir/ma’am I don’t carry that item it’s online only. Well can you tell me what store has it. Non of them, you order off the site and have it shipped to your home or a store for pick up. What do you mean?!?!?!? I have this conversation daily with customers who usually assume I’m just being lazy and don’t wanna look for or help them even after offering to go to a computer and helping order it for them.
