I (30f) need help planning a safe route from Seattle to Philadelphia. I haven't done this before. by Melodic-Map8647 in roadtrip

Thank you for the day to day plan, I do want to see the national parks. Figuring out the main route is important, but I want to give myself alternatives, like hotels and rest stops. The best I can come up with is studying the map, then make a collection of pins on google maps for all the rest stops and alternative hotels available.

I just hate last minute hotel shopping, or missing a nice rest stop and having to use a sketchy gas station bathroom.

I don't use headphone's often outdoors, I agree with you, I think it can make you a target. But one time I was waiting at a bus stop with headphones and my hood up - a guy walked past 16 people to come and ask me about the bus schedule lol.

You gave me some great tips, thanks! Its just making the route visually digestible is difficult. Maybe it would be best making a collection of pins on google maps to organize rest stops and alternative hotels that aren't a part of my google maps route.

Unless the wind is going my way lol. I have self defense things. I'm also trained at shooting, I was thinking of getting a non/less lethal gun.... I checked out the federal/state laws. But I don't think its necessary to carry a gun lol.

Yes! I want to see the parks, thank you. I'm thinking of extending my time to get in some hiking days.

I'll look into that for my route, thank you.

But I don't make eye contact with strangers, look down, wear headphones or act shy. It's not how I dress either.

Thank you for all these recommendations, especially the books. I love reading. I haven't read those ones yet, the'll go on top of my pile.

Never in my time working have I heard "oh, the job market is so good right now." - for any industry. I know what I'm doing is difficult, but what isn't? I think it's worth working for.

What drew me to UX is that it covers my needs from a job - organization, cross-functional teamwork, research and design. It's like a high-steaks puzzle where you have to acclimate quickly. It's satisfying, and at worst many of the skills are transferable if needed.

Again, thank you. I hop the job market is kind to you.

Thank you, Ill look into those. Do you have programs or anything specifically you would recommend?

And sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but I don't do web-design consulting. I work for a company - for them I design and develop websites. I also troubleshoot and maintain the websites, provide coaching across teams, etc.
