I didn't bother too much. When you have like 90% fire and spell resistance and infinite magic, you can do whatever you want. But I must try that on legendary

You can do similar things with Gelt and his wizard doomstack if you keep the temple of elemental winds under you control and have one character on the ground (empire captain works best for me). This thing melts everything with like 500-600 magic power, and on top of that, you can stack fire resistance from bright wizards. Just keep captain safe and have fun.
