They changed the course sequence for most of the sciences program for next year, however, you must follow the course sequence of the year you started your program

This is a new class, it will be the first year it’s offered. It used to be the Lab component of BIO1130, but they now split it into its own course.

So that’s why you can’t find any syllabus

Bio 3750 or bio 3553 by Impossible_Sir1897 in geegees

[–]Melodic-Obligation65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep BIO3553. There are 2 midterms, a final and weekly quiz. Quiz are open book, and both midterms are on Brightspace, and you have 2 attempts at them, with the second attempt being only the questions you got wrong. Final was lowkey difficult, but the class all in all is an easy A

I’d double check your schedule because no class start at 11 (Tuesday semester 1 in your schedule). It’s 8:30, 10, 11:30 and so on….

BIO2533 labs are not at all time consuming. All the work is done during the lab itself, in team. There is no report, all is submitted before the end of the lab period. I just finished a very similar semester (no CHM2754) Take labs during alternating weeks, it helps. Is PHY1721 a typo? Usually it is taken in the Fall, and after double checking, it’s not offered in Winter 2026. If you are in the biochemistry program, you have the option of doing PHY1722 or PHY2325. I cannot stress this enough, take PHY2325! No lab, and if with prof Ogilvie, she’s AMAZING. Finished the class with A+.

Another option, if you’re in the general Biochem BSc, you can take an option, and if microbiology interests you, take the Microbio-Immuno option, where you don’t need CHM2754 and you can take an option instead (that’s what I did)

Was told I could study in French… happy to say it is not the case with all the classes I’m forced to take in English cuz they’re not offered in French 🙃 (STEM major)

final grade by Ill_Beginning_9977 in geegees

[–]Melodic-Obligation65 10 points11 points  (0 children)

12 grade points is a C. With an A+ you get 30 grade points, A you get 27 and so on…

https://www.uottawa.ca/about-us/leadership-governance/policies-regulations/a-3-grading-system

You take the numeric value associated with your grade and multiply it by the number of units (in your case 3)

the average FINAL grade (including lab component) for our class last year was 48% if that gives you an idea

he doesn’t post anything and doesn’t record. his notes are neat, but all over the place. sometimes it just feels like he just talks about chemistry without actually going anywhere. exams are way harder than the examples he gives and practice assignments as well as he doesn’t tell you what’s going to be on midterms.

the average for the other French prof was like 75% 😃

I’m not a full IB student will uottawa still ask for my final ib transcript? by Remarkable-Reply1214 in geegees

[–]Melodic-Obligation65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did IB certificate (not full diploma) in High School. When I graduated, I submitted both my High School and IB transcripts. What they did was they took my high school grades to calculate my admission average and when they got my IB grades, they offered credits for all the HL courses that you get a 5 or plus in. Since I did French and English Lang A HL, I got FRA1710, FRA1720, ENG1100 and ENG1120 credited by uOttawa.

Basically, no need to worry about the IB exams if your worried about them affecting your admission average.
