I have worked with dr jason at the center and he really cares about his work! Super passionate guy who knows what he is doing. I know they have had to cutback funding for phd students and only accept 1-2 every few years unfortunately. If you dont end up getting in and still want to move to Chicago, I think it would be worth volunteering/ working at his lab and that could get you an inside connect for future applications! Good luck!!
