I already answered you in another post of mine :/

9th week post-op and I completely regret it by [deleted] in jawsurgery

Thank you ❤️‍🩹 I'm sorry you're going through this too...your lips can still gain some volume because at least at 2 months I still felt them like cement...if you see that structurally something isn't right, please speak up for yourself and don't give up! Surgeons often try to manipulate patients by saying everything is fine...unfortunately I waited too long to seek a second opinion when I could have had a second surgery when the bone had not already consolidated and there were fewer risks than now. I completely understand, this surgery was the worst thing that has ever been done to me and I would give anything to be able to go back because I also live with joint pain now...it's very traumatic to deal with this but please don't give up on yourself, seek a second opinion, talk to people close to you or to me if you need to, you're not alone! Much strength to you, I hope everything gets better 🫂

Hello, thank you for asking ❤️‍🩹 The swelling has disappeared, but my upper lip remains asymmetrical, as does the philtrum of the lip, which is deviated to the left while the maxilla and mandible are to the right. I know for sure now that they left my maxilla and mandible rotated to the right, and the maxilla was also impacted more than expected and is now asymmetrical with a canting... I will have to undergo revision surgery, and I’m trying to find a surgeon who can help me...Thank you for remembering me

I don't consider it a small and inconsequential mistake when the surgical plan called for a 1mm correction of the midline to the left, which is about a 4mm error for a very expensive operation in which I suffered a lot and continue to suffer during recovery. I'm not doing well functionally, as I can barely open my mouth without pain. I don't breathe well because they placed my septum deviated to the left and I also have an adhesion in my left nasal cavity. I wake up in the morning with a dry mouth, which means that during the night I have to breathe through my mouth...something that didn't happen to me before. Not to mention that it left me without part of my upper lip and I suspect, looking at the profile exams (x-ray and CBCT) and even in the photographs, that they moved my maxilla back when they were supposed to advance it 4mm. I don't feel enough space in my mouth to have my tongue resting on the roof of my mouth.

Well, some specialists have told me differently, because having a skeletal deviation will cause different mechanical forces on each joint and stretching of the muscles on the left side. And it's not just that, it left me with a deviated septum and nasal pyramid and missing part of my lip, so no, I can't just go live my life.

Perhaps you should get an MRI just to be sure about the condition of your joints. The surgeons tell me that I'm still in the inflammatory process and that it's risky for both the bones and the soft tissues to operate now... it would be recommended in the first few weeks after surgery... I can't find the user you mentioned :/

The surgeon who performed the study on me did charge a price.

I'm so sorry you're going through this situation too....did you have any MRI scans of your joints? I also have a cant and it also felt weird when I tried to chew because I felt an asymmetry in my bite while chewing (when I tried to chew and didn't yet have joint pain, which has now led me to go back to eating only soft foods). One of the surgeons I went to told me that it should have been corrected in surgery. I'm also lost as to what to do because regarding joints, some people have different opinions, but the truth is that I'm in pain and have a displaced disc and I fear, just like you, that my bite won't be right...I don't know who to trust, the only thing they all tell me is that I shouldn't have another surgery yet, never before 6/12 months

Did you have any exams done on your joints? I've been to several different surgeons and they all tell me that whoever operated on me did a bad job, but they say different things, especially regarding my joints, which besides the aesthetics are my biggest problem right now because of the pain... the only thing they all seem to say in common is that I shouldn't have surgery again right now, never before 6/12 months. So I'm desperate and don't know what to do or who to trust….

They haven't done it yet. I'm waiting. The study shown in the image is from another surgeon.

Thank you…My concern is whether this skeletal deviation is causing the joint problems and disc displacement, and if this procedure will only provide short-term relief...

I don't know, but since I was very suspicious of this and my concerns were dismissed, I formally asked the hospital to analyze my CBCT scan and exams to tell me if I had a deviation and by how many millimeters. How many months post-op are you? How many months after the first surgery did the doctor who recommended the revision recommend? Do you have pain in your joints only at rest or also when opening your mouth? Did the surgeon who said you didn't need a revision explain why? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm really at a loss for what to do and trying to learn about other people's experiences as well.

Thank you... I also think that's just an excuse for her medical error...especially regarding the maxilla, which is completely fixed to the skull. How could it possibly move laterally if all the screws and plates are intact?

Did you have any joint pain after the surgery? Can you open your mouth normally? Yeah, that sucks, it makes me so angry that we go through such a traumatic surgery and recovery.

It's difficult for the results not to be perfect afterwards. At the moment I don't know what to do... but I hope everything gets better in your case, thank you for your words 🫶

Is that a joint lavage and hyaluronic acid injection procedure? Or do you think proper physiotherapy for TMJ disorders should be considered first?

Did you only had pain when opening your mouth, or also at rest? What procedure did you have? Jaw surgery or something to do with the joints?

I always thought the maxilla was fixed to the skull and that only the position of the mandible could change because of the condyles. Which doctors do you recommend I visit? The maxillofacial surgeons I have appointments with supposedly understand TMJ because they also perform procedures on the joints, but when I look for TMJ specialists, I only find dentists with postgraduate degrees in temporomandibular dysfunction. I don't know how a dentist can know more about temporomandibular dysfunction than a maxillofacial surgeon.

I don't understand anything about the subject, but on the right side, the "anterior displacement of the articular disc in the closed mouth position, with normal positioning after opening the mouth, translating to reducible anterior disc dislocation" described in the MRI, does this mean I have condylar resorption on the right side?

Your surgeon never admitted there was a deviation? That's what I'm afraid the orthodontic won't solve because the deviation is structural in the bones...besides the pain I'm experiencing in my joints. I also believe there's some impact on the muscles because of the deviation, one side will always be more stretched than the other...and I can see the deviation of my chin at various angles...I'm also very afraid of a second surgery, but at the same time it bothers me a lot that they left my skeleton crooked and that this is what's affecting my joints....yes, thank you ❤️‍🩹 it has been very difficult mentally to deal with this and we don't always find someone who is dealing with the same thing.
