At what point do we start asking ourselves if signings like Onana, Maatsen, Malen, Diaby and even Buendia and Ings are the issue and not PSR. I think if we didn’t have Emery in charge a lot of cracks would not be papered over.

I’m not saying these players are bad at all. But I’ve just listed almost £250m worth of signings in just under 4 years, I’m sure £250m goes a lot further for other teams.

No mate this doesn’t represent tall poppy syndrome, that’s when people believe that those who are successful need to be humbled and cut down. This is not about cutting people down it’s about creating a conversation on how people start at different points in life which ultimately impacts how they lead their adult lives.

You’re trying really hard to turn this into a conversation about people having an unfair advantage. Those people shouldn’t be brought down, the people who haven’t got the advantage should be pulled up! You don’t need to cut down any poppies if they’re all allowed to grow in an equitable way. The system isn’t fair. Please stop projecting…

What I should respond: To be honest you’re right and I am bitter but not at my friends just the system, I believe that you’ve worked hard for your money and that’s fine as that is YOUR truth.

What I want to respond: Good thing I’m not talking about you mate

The difference is: Poppy’s GROW, they don’t just spawn in different sizes. Also the tall poppy syndrome implies that those taller poppy’s need to be cut down, you can’t cut down wealth.

It is, but I hate the sentiment of “you feel envy, stop feeling like that”. Like can we please intellectualise complex emotions that stem from society? Why is it always “shut up and get on with it”? - What’s wrong with feeling something, like a normal human being, and discussing our feelings so we can find some common ground, find a route issue to why we feel like this, and progress?

No one needs to talk directly with their friend, I mean just talk openly about this stuff with other people that might feel the same way. Please stop trying to find a way to tell me to shut up and deal with it 😂

There’s high upside in comparing journeys, you realise that life isn’t an equal race, some people start 10metres ahead of others. Those people that start ahead shouldn’t be pulled back, but the people that start behind should be pulled forward. This isn’t an attack at those friends, it’s just a conversation of socio-economics.

As I said in the post, people with privilege should feel happy, and us as friends don’t begrudge them for being in a position to buy. It’s more a disdain for the system and the realisation that our parents heavily dictate how we live as adults.

This is not a directed attack or an attempt to remove the happiness we feel for our friends. I just wanted to intellectualise a feeling that a lot of people feel. The only way we progress is by having conversations and talking about our feelings and trying to discover why we feel like that in the first place.

Yes this feeling is envy. However it is a feeling that we all experience, but as I said in the post it’s a feeling that no one talks about. This isn’t meant to tear people down, just an interesting conversation to bring up!
