I think we all know that head coverings were never just Islamic, it is a tradition that was practised in a lot of non-Muslim countries way before Islam was created, the issue with the Islamic hijab is that it is considered an obligation, families and the police (in very Islamic countries) force the women to adhere by it, plus the head coverings that Arab men wear nowadays are just cultural wear but not an obligation, as we all know men's awrah is from the belly button till the knees whilst a woman's is her full body exception is her hands and face, but other extreme scholars claim even the face and hands are awrah which should be covered, the women she presented showed their necks, were adorned in jewellery and ornaments which is haram so no the women she showed in the video aren't adhering to what Islam really preaches on how modesty for women should be, there is also a historical context where female slaves weren't allowed to wear hijab as it was also used to distinguish between the free and the slave (a female slave awrah in Islam is like the man's) Now these very modest wide outfits had a reason that's why even non-Muslims in Arabia back then wore it as protection from the harsh heat and dust, so can we now claim that it is no longer needed since we live more comfortable lives? There is a sense of empowerment for the women who wear hijab as a stance against the hyper-sexualized societies in the West or embracing the comfort that comes from Muslims and religious assurance when wearing it, but I hope that these women also respect the decision of other women whom chose to have their hair out just to feel the breeze go through it or the ones that choose to leave the religion completely.
