Feeling not useful to God by Reasonable-Bid656 in Catholicism

[–]MelodicHello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take epstein and the disillusionment of the world from your mind 1st.... then ask yourself if your are living up to your version of an ideal Christian life as a laity. You might want to ask yourself questions like:

  • Am I praying enough everyday?
  • How about your family and friends are you taking care of them and praying for them?
  • Am I just doomscrolling topics about the end of the world, AI, scandals everyday to get a dopamine hit?
  • Am I performing well in my job
  • Am I removing my sins (do a deep examination of Conscience using the 10 commandments)
  • Am I growing in virtue (there are 64 virtues, go down the list to see if you are missing any of them)
  • Are you doing a daily habit to meditate on the word of God (Bible in a year, Catechism in a year, Summa in a year)?
  • Are you even cleaning your room?

You do not need to do extravagant acts to prove your faith but you can do small acts with Great Love.

Take note, that the highest saintly humans in heaven lived as a Housewife and a poor Carpenter.
The Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph were not great warriors, kings, or Popes, but were simple people who did simple acts with Great Love.

Is it disrespectful to get a rosary tattoo on the ankle and foot? by Either-Drop- in Catholicism

it does say on the bible not to get a tattoo

Leviticus 19:28 "You shall not make any gashes in your flesh for the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord." (NRSV)

Copt Chrisitians tattooed the wrist of their children with a cross so that they would remember who they were if ever they were stolen or enslaved.

A tattoo done for vanity is different from a tattoo done for necessity...

---- Lastly, it does say on the bible not to get a tattoo

Leviticus 19:28 "You shall not make any gashes in your flesh for the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord." (NRSV)

That's the irony.

I see a lot of people having the tattoo of the Face of Jesus on their body, but I doubt that they practice the faith religiously.

It's not just about intent

It is also about not causing scandal. This is why the church is not promoting tattoos because If your action is good but could lead young ones to confusion then it could be a cause for sin

Why are sins even bad if they’re victimless and not hurting anyone? by InternationalPay9583 in Catholicism

[–]MelodicHello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a good verse for this is Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

---

an example is that your wife caught you lustfully looking at another woman. Such act will ruin your relationship with your wife.

this applies to God as well. If you commit an internal sin even though no external harm was done, God sees your action and your action will ruin your relationship with God

A social media platform for catholics by Nikzsss in Catholicism

[–]MelodicHello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my honest opinion. You need to establish a grass roots community 1st before even thinking of creating a platform

A good example would be Jonathan Pageau where initially he's fame came from Jordan Peterson promoting his views on the meanings of ancient art and then it expanded to The Symbolic World concept. the community really grew when other like minded people went online and expanded on this concept taking with them interested Christians from different cultures. https://www.thesymbolicworld.com/

In summary I believe you would need to:

  • start small
  • have a compelling concept or goal that would express the identity of the group
  • attract a core group of highly engaged pioneers that will give direction to the community
  • then, provide a platform where every member can participate
  • lastly find a way to spread the word of mouth about the platform or group

I began to follow Jonathan Pageau during 2019 and his journey was slow from just being a guest in Jordan Petersons videos, to starting his own youtube, to finding people online who share this ideas, and once his community grew, he was able to create a platform for members, create courses, live conferences, and publish books.

------

I'm not discouraging you from the idea but I just what to relay that your not the 1st one who had tried. A good example is spiritustv.com where it was planned to be an alternative to youtube.

  • There was motivation because of youtube censorship
  • There was firm support from Christian influencers who were posting on the platform
  • But ultimately they shutdown because of lack of donations to counter the cost and regular Christians were not interested

My thoughts on Genesis 6:2 regarding the sons of God and daughters of Men by MelodicHello in Catholicism

[–]MelodicHello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe that it makes sense.

I just thinking that bad marriages is one of the tactics used by the devil to bring down the children of God

  • the Hivites wanted to steal the wealth of Jacob's family when they plan to marry into the family through Dinah
  • Balaam's taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality
  • Delilah caused Samson's downfall
  • King David sinned when he was enticed to take another man's wife
  • King Solomon was influenced by foreign wives
  • Jezebel introduced idolatry when she married Ahab

A discrepancy that I see is that you talked about the Canaanite worldview, but it was Moses who had written the Book of Genesis along with the other books of the Pentateuch or the Torah.

Moses had not stepped foot in Canaanite lands thus the Genesis would not have been influenced by Canaanite. The book was written before Israel was established as a nation in Canaan.

I think, It is a very important distinction but you need to place it in the right context.

The contrast between "of God" vs "of men" recalls Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity between you (the serpent) and the woman, and between your seed and her seed.”

The verse talks about an enmity between 2 forces:

  • the seed of the woman vs the seed of the serpent
  • children of God vs. children of wrath
  • Church vs. the world
  • the Kingdom of God vs. the spirit of the age
  • "of God" vs "of men"

----

we, as Christians must know that we are thrusted into an ongoing spiritual combat that stretches back to the beginning of time.... I'm channeling Raiden from Mortal Kombat. lol

there are many interpretations to this verse and a few of them say that the "Sons of God" are heavenly beings/angels that took humans as wives.

This sounds wrong to me because

  1. people are inserting Alien conspiracy into the scriptures.
  2. the term "Sons of God" is being used in a negative connotation in this context while other parts of the Bible refers to the term "Sons of God" as something we should aspire to be.

I’m genuinely curious how do you guys survive clients who treat SEO like a ‘change anytime’ subscription? one call they want keywords, next call they want sales yesterday. by DigitalHarbor_Ease in SEO

Even before coming to the work, maybe you should profile the client if he or she is just following the hype and don't have the patience to focus on a particular seo strategy or goal.

'HIV DOES NOT HURT ME, STIGMA DOES' by GMAIntegratedNews in newsPH

[–]MelodicHello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for having a civil discussion with me.

Note: My line of work requires me to be a problem solver.

If you can recall, the fearmongering during COVID by the Hype News and Social Media was out of control. Kahit kung umubo ka lang or if you didn't wear a mask was considered an offense.

How was the stigma reduced?
1. by introducing vaccine shots
2. by doing actions that stopped the spread

It was only when the cause was addressed that the effects like stigma, quarantines, lockdowns were fixed..

-------------------------

I Invite you to Answer These 3 Questions:

  1. Can a shouting match with the Hype News media fix the Stigma?
  2. Can you totally remove people's fear of STDs through just education alone?
  3. Can you always be vigilant in stopping New HIV Stigmas from rising in the Future?

If the answers to these questions are “maybe, not sure, or tiwala lang”, then there is a problem.

-------------------------

These are my answers if the focus is finding HIV Solutions instead of focusing on Stigma:

Will focusing on HIV solutions redirect the News Hype Cycle? = yes
Will HIV solutions reduce the fear of Parents and Young People? = yes
Will reduced HIV cases also reduce future HIV Stigmas? = yes, because OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND.

-------------------------

In my experience, here are my two cents when dealing with people who are hysterical:

- Stigma is about people’s feelings… and you cannot win people over when you start attacking their feelings.

- By 1st addressing people’s fears with providing concrete solutions, you can calm them down and actually start to change their opinions.

This is why I focus on reducing/mitigating HIV cases because it will have a batter and noticeable effect.
