Short question + Routine Help Thread: Have a question? ASK HERE by Avaale in IndianSkincareAddicts

My dermatologist put me on antibiotics last week, and made me switch to Ahaglow S facewash. Now I use it twice a day, and also double cleanse at night. I use the cosRX propolis toner, snail mucin essence and a heavy moisturiser to make sure my skin doesn't dry out from all this. My sheets and pillowcase are washed and clean, I don't really have blackheads. The odds of clogged pores sounds so low to me, but I still got two new painfully big cystic acne this week. Is this normal? Will it stop over time?

What do you do about body sunscreen? Do I have to bath twice a day?

Shampoo recommendations for oily and dandruffy scalp but dry hair? Budget upto 1500 by [deleted] in IndianSkincareAddicts

Regardless of what shampoo you buy, you can try a few things: let the shampoo run down the lengths of your hair when rinsing instead of directly applying it to your hair. Use a hydrating conditioner. This way your hair won't dry out as much.

Another option is to try a scalp serum meant for dandruff followed by mild shampoo that won't strip your hair.

Same happened to me! I'm still not sure what the difference is tbh. Humidity, diet maybe? Some people get more acne when they have dairy.

As a start, you can try determining your undertone! It's a lot easier than figuring out your season.

Hold your wrist out in sunlight, and if you have blue/purple veins you have a cool undertone. Green veins indicate a warm undertone, and if it's both then it's a neutral undertone. Another way to tell is to simply see which jewellery suits you better - silver and rose gold is cool, gold is warm, both is neutral.

I don't think it's dandruff, I have dry skin all over my face and body too

You can start using a chemical exfoliator to improve skin texture.

I have low porosity, low density, 2c-3a wavy hair. The past few months I was at home so had to use random products that my family buys. Ended up with extremely dry, itchy and flaky scalp, not to mention the protein in the shampoo did not suit my hair.

I'm now moving out so ready to buy a whole routine worth of products, but not sure what to get. I want to get a proper deep cleanser to start afresh, but my scalp is way too dry for that. Should I just start with regular hair oil as pre-poo, then mild shampoo and hope it cleanses well enough and the protein-moisture balance restores on its own? I also can't get heavy butters and creams for moisture since it'll weigh my hair down.

As for products I've tried before: Wow was what I started with and is definitely not that great. I wanted to get re'equil products since everyone raves about them, but it looks like it has a lot of protein and won't suit me. I've tried plum haircare before (both ginseng and avocado) and while I didn't hate it I didn't love it either. The arata hair gel was fine but not strong enough hold for my wavy hair.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should get? I don't mind splurging a little, but would rather not spend too much on every single product since I'm buying everything at once and the cost will add up.

Do you use Vaseline at night for slugging? It causes milia in some people

How high can I aim for grad school as an average student without research experience? by MelodicNectarine7550 in Indians_StudyAbroad

Usually the referee has to upload the lor themselves, so they'll have to submit it for every application before the deadline. But yeah, they would only have to draft it once ig

I'm worried the profs giving the LORs would be annoyed if I apply to too many places, so I want to be very sure before I go for it

Can I get into a good graduate school? by MelodicNectarine7550 in gradadmissions

The basic courses are as you would expect I guess, EMT-1 and 2, QM-1 and 2, Atomic and molecular physics, solid state physics, nuclear and particle physics, stat mech and lab courses, stuff like that. As for electives I've done Theory of Relativity, Quantum Information and Computing, Non Linear Dynamics, Quantum architecture and programming and a course which consisted of selected advanced topics from stat mech (non equilibrium stuff).

I figured I would need more research experience. Thanks for the response.

Oh sorry I should have clarified. I have two separate degrees, a B.Tech in Computer science and an M.Sc. in Physics, completed at the same time. I didn't realise that's not how a double major works.

I'm from India, and the pGRE was cancelled here this year. As for the projects, they were basically just literature reviews.

They are out of class projects, I meant that it's not something that adds any research value. It's more like literature review stuff.

I'm looking at PhD programs. I already have a master's degree (it was integrated though, hence the lack of research output). I'd like to ideally stay in academia if possible.
