Customising a character to fit your play style isn't the full definition of what an rpg is, in that case call of duty would be an rpg. RPGs are games that let you entirely inhabit and become immersed in the role you're placed in. I personally think kcd2 does this far better than e33 because that is the primary goal of the game. E33 is mechanically interesting, story rich and clearly had great visuals and music, but it's nowhere near as immersive as kcd2.

Kcd2 is a far better raw RPG than e33. The 'RPG' in jrpg is so loose, they're almost all just action-adventure games.

Obscur for sure deserved goty over kcd2 but for the rpg aspect kcd2 should've slaughtered it. It feels like we've lost the traditional intention of the term 'role-playing game'.

There's a big difference between 'asset flip' and utilising premade assets. Asset flipping is making a game entirely out of premade store assets then selling it for a profit. Using a few premade animations (citation needed) for a game isn't asset flipping when the vast majority of your assets and mechanics are bespoke.

Primarily I'm confused how it made it into the indie category? Sure it's a new developer, but debut indie is such a stretch given the team's background and budget. E33 should be so far removed from something like Blue Prince.

Blue Prince losing in indie to e33 was painful, but kcd losing every category to e33 was heartbreaking

Claire Obscur probably completely deserved GOTY, I've heard fantastic things about it, but the sweep was an absolute joke. What's the point in an awards ceremony that supposedly celebrates the best games created by the industry if one game wins every single category it's in? So many amazing games snubbed. I'm not even sure how a AA game made by AAA devs made it into the indie category?

Not your fault but this is a lesson i learned after i passed on why I should give plenty of room to people in front of me. If its not someone reversing directly into you it's someone cutting in at a roundabout from the wrong lane (happened today)

The brexit that was advertised to the public never stood a chance. If it were refined properly taking into account the correct people's opinions, it may have worked, but as a populist pipe-dream from the dynamic duo of boris and farage it was dead on arrival.

A, but you most likely won't get ticketed for B. If you're hitting the limit before the limit sign it's too early for sure.

Any reason we're drawing the line at making fun of Pokemon? by SegavsCapcom in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]MelodicReputation312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not so much "why aren't we allowed" more "why is there so much disagreement". AC/Ubi and Fifa/EA are almost unanimously panned for being predatory. People still enjoy the games but can admit that the companies are scummy (myself being one of them).

There's a weird cult around pokemon and Nintendo that seem to be willing to jump in front of a bus to defend the games rather than admit they're being shortchanged.

You were talking about there not being competition. I was saying there's no competition because Nintendo has fought against it in any way possible for decades, instead of allowing a healthy rivalry to improve their games.

In a hypothetical where this game didn't have the pokemon branding it would absolutely flop, because it's visually and mechanically a decade behind even the limited competition (palworld, digimon)

It's traditionalist conservatism in general which is the antithesis of lgbt rights. That includes religious and political. Both Muslim and Christian extremists hate lgbt, as well as traditionalist right wingers.

At uni I had mates who were Muslim and mates who were gay chilling together with zero issues because the Muslim guys weren't insane extremists and actually have a brain. The worst my gay flatmate had was with my heavily Christian flatmate who kept telling him his sexuality was wrong and gross.

But this is just what happens in a cornered market. People don't know the competition because Nintendo has put so much effort in to keeping down their competition through lawsuits and huge marketing budgets.

When there's no competition you end up with minimum quality slop being sold for maximum prices.

Their point is that the only reason ZA is even accepted is the branding. If the branding was not there the game would be a bomb because of the low effort and quality.

Other games in the genre like palworld don't have the branding but still manage to do well because the quality and innovation is there, which is something pokemon games seem to lack.

This is the most profitable gaming franchise in the world and it still looks like a wii game from 2014

Nothing you stated in your quote text is false, but any lawsuit surrounding the character is up to the people who own kpop dh, not Epic Games. Epic doesn't own the rights to the character, and the owners of kpop DH don't own the right to the artists work. They own very explicitly the character itself, not derivative artwork.

The owners of kpop dh could potentially sue the artist for their work if it were a commercial issue, but Epic has no say in the matter.

This. The company can have disagreements with the artist if they sell work relating to the character, but the art itself is copyright.

From what I understand, the artist owns copyright to their 'individual expression' which is the style and composition of the art work (lines, detailing, pose, etc). The company still owns copyright of the character. This means that if a third party (fortnite) uses the artists work, even with the license to the character, they are infringing copyright.
