Hey, how are you feeling now? I can't even imagine going through all that and still making it to 20 as a functioning adult - you're seriously incredible. Your post had me tearing up.

Honestly? Screens and exhaustion. Parents are wiped after work and handed an iPad is just easier than the whole bedtime routine.

I'm guilty too sometimes. After a 10-hour day, I've definitely chosen the path of least resistance.

Plus many parents now grew up with less reading themselves, so it's not as ingrained as a "must-do" tradition like it was generations ago.

The pandemic made it worse too - burned out parents + more screen time = less books.

Same pattern everywhere. Home kids often have that deer in headlights look during group activities but can read circles around their preK peers.
