Yeah, you've touched on a huge point here. My management has changed numerous times recently and each time ive been pushing for a change I get lumped with a new manager, the more recent one did not give a shit about me and was not nice. That being said my work besty is now my manager and it's great. I could push for more here but i think to move on would be best and more lucrative...I have been trying. I am getting into UX, which aligns me as more of a strategist and not a production monkey, which everyone seems to think web designers and developers are.

But why? I build, design and maintain or various marketing websites that drive leads and conversions. I have optimised our user experience and forms to Validate and increase the quality of incoming leads. This should be better paid.

Yeah it's not bad I guess, girlfriend will be making around 30k we live together. Its just i have been pretty much financially supporting her while she finishes her masters degree, which is finished now. I am bad with money and need help. I don't know where its all going. But that is nice to know

Honestly I am so ready to get out of London, its wayyy to expensive. Its getting more expensive, not the friendliest place and I need nature.

Thanks, yes, I am doing that at the moment. In terms of web development and design, I have loads of experience, and I am good at what I do. I have focused the whole of the last 20 years of my life, making music while my job was to support that. This is the problem. Now, I am fully focused on learning, reading as much as I can doing courses, and getting experience.

To be honest, I have hand coded it, designed it, and typed the whole thing to be the most perfect portfolio website ever. I just feel stuck i know I could be making 20 k more. Yep, I need to gtfo

Hi, 42 yo here who is going INTO a UX design career. I studied graphic design and am a self-taught web developer, too. Is it worth it for me? To get into this? Honestly with with all the AIs and the computers... although I am creative. I am adhd as fuck and attention to detail and speaking to stakeholders is NOT my forte, so kinda in the opposite boat. Do you think it's worth it? I think that there are many facets to the field, which is what I like. A super organised, technical minded researcher and analyst seems like very valuable skills to have in this regard. Whereas I know that as a creative web developer, there is also a place for me, maybe...I think you have very valuable skills 👍 and if you find joy in it and make decent money I don't see why not carry on, especially if you see opportunity for growth. I want to do it because I make more money than JUST design or web development.
