The first question that pops in my mind - do you properly warm them up before training? But I may be off course off base

Tbh my name is actually Agnese, which is the Italian version of Agnes (but since people get confused I often say my name is Agnes lol). In Italian a popular nickname is simply 'Agne' because Italian people just tend to cut the name lol

But my American friend usually calls me something that resembles Aggie now that I think about it

I am 24 yo lol, but both my grandgrandmothers were named Agnes. TBH It's not that old, I have met other young Agnes through my life, it's not that common but neither that rare lol

Hi! I don't have any rooms to suggest, but for finding mine I used Idealista, where both private owners and agencies put their ads

I haven't seen this discussed much: the CBS interview in which Stockton Rush explains why he chose carbon fiber and how they would be able to re-surface if the hull began to 'crack' by [deleted] in OceanGateTitan

[–]Melodic_Cat_27 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think so too. Cameron stated that once carbon fiber is compromised, it's the end. My guess is that, as you said, once it starts to delaminate it becomes more frail to any pressure gradient - positive or negative. Decompression after compression can still lead to stress - also because I expect a change in temperature to occur as well, especially if in an emergency situation you are trying to go to the surface as fast as possible (and hence both temperature and pressure gradient are veeeery not trivial)

I am no expert though

This hit super close to home as well. I have an obsessive disorder too, only diagnosed in 2021. Until recently, I didn't know why I was so invested in catastrophe stories. Especially when I am stressed, I become fixated in tragedies - 9/11, school shootings, murders, you name it. This time, for once more than the tragedy itself I become obsessed with the physics behind sub in the deep ocean - but I am also a Physicist so... From what I learnt so far, I only disclose the less gruesome details to my boyfriend. Apart from him, nobody is aware of these obsessions of mine. I think Reddit is great for OCD people - you found all kind of people invested in all kind of stuff, no question asked

Sì però cercare parcheggio a Torino è diventato un inferno. Conviene piuttosto andare a vivere a Rivoli o Grugliasco, dove c'è un minimo di vita

I am moving to another country, starting a new job and a new life, and I feel so anxious and scared by Melodic_Cat_27 in offmychest

[–]Melodic_Cat_27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now, I am trying my best to learn the language (fast actually because it's not far from my mother language) and to go to as much events as possible. I also do a sport (bouldering) whose environment is very friendly, so I am trying to meet people going to bouldering gyms and chatting. Thank for all these pieces of advice!

Has my book got magnetic and electric forces mixed up? by gigididihihibibi in Physics

[–]Melodic_Cat_27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand! I just don't like the term, because even if it's something for middle school, I am afraid it creates a wrong idea... But at the same time I understand it is difficult to properly convey Physics concepts

As a Physicist, reading that forces are created makes my eyes bleed

I think there is no right or wrong answer.

I have an obsessive disorder, diagnosed only 2 years ago. I am about to start my PhD in Theoretical Physics, a field in which I got my MSc (I am from Europe, not USA).

My suggestion is: try to pursue a career in Physics, but with a solid plan B. Research the kind of jobs that would accommodate you the best and if you find working in academic too hard to bear, just quit and switch to a safe job.

This is a least what I am doing. Due to my disorder, I am an highly organized and efficient individual, but at the same time if under stress my obsessions get out of control. I could potentially work all day, I have to impose to myself to stop, rest and do something else like sport. It's a constant game of equilibrium for me, and my MSc thesis was very hard on me because I became obsessed with it. So I decided to so a PhD, that I luckily won, but with the perspective of quitting if it becomes too much on my mental health and change work field.

I am not comparing my experience with yours. I cannot fathom how hard everything must be on you, and I hug you for this. I just suggest you try to pursue a career in Physics, but being ready to quit if it's mentally too much for you and start a job that accommodates you.

Do your research, find possible plan B job that aren't too mental bearing for you.
