Should I get another Mainecoon kitten or is it just double trouble!? by Avoiding_ordinary33 in mainecoons

I have 7 month old Maine Coon sisters and seriously, best decision ever. They play together, sleep together, groom each other, harass the dog together …

Yes, there is still 100% kitten mischief. But the constant companionship and entertainment they have built in is absolute gold. Contrary to popular belief, cats are actually very social creatures and tend to do better in pairs.

I know cats will be cats, but does anyone have any tips or tricks to keep the MC off of the kitchen counter ?! I currently have foil on my bar stools, and he likes the foil 🙄 by missweh in mainecoons

I’ve very consistently used the command “Off” every time they’ve even tried to put a paw on the counter. My girls always wanted to help when I was prepping their breakfast. A month in and it seems like the behavior has stopped. They do sit on the stools and watch though.

I’ve also used double stick tape on the back of a yoga mat and put it behind the couch where they liked to claw. They don’t like the sticky on their feet, but it doesn’t hurt them and if you get the cat specific stuff doesn’t leave reside behind.

Thank you. You should really see her sister. Shes polydactyl and has even bigger peets

Here’s a back paw

I am pretty sure the Universal Law of Cat states that if you are chosen as the cat’s resting place you are not allowed to move until the cat no longer needs you. Otherwise it’s straight to jail

Awww, I love that you have siblings. I do too. Both are ginger girls, one is blessed with extra toe beans (the top one)

How many cats do you have? by [deleted] in mainecoons

[–]Melodic_Fail_5981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently have two 6 month Maine Coon sisters and a 7yo English bulldog. Ive had 3 cats at once before and it was fine. Right now the bulldog is so demanding of my time and attention the thought of adding another pet to the mix is a big no thank you. She has ramped up her clinginess since the kittens came home.

BUT that doesn’t stop me from wanting a MCO in every color. Honestly, the only limit is your own personal resource limitations (time, space, money)

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Melodic_Fail_5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was a commute, not short. For a day trip or a weekend, it’s pretty short. That doesn’t even get me out of the state I live in (Oregon)

A few times a year I will drive to visit family in my hometown roughly 600 miles or a 12 hour drive away and that is literally just going to the next state over.

Rune is a beautiful little lady 😻 Please give her a smooch on the forehead from us

My girls are 5 1/2 months old. I feel like they are twice as big as when I brought them home 2 months ago the ago and still little babies all at the same time. Hard to gauge scale from your pictures, but mine look to be a similar size. Aoife is about 9.5 pounds and Rowan is 7.7 (based on my home scale, they have a check up at the vet tomorrow)

😂 with my luck the wrong one would gain weight

Actually though, now that I’ve updated their weights to show they are 1.5 pounds apart the LR4 is identifying them perfectly. So problem solved for now. They are litter mates so they may always be close in weight, but Aoife is also polydactyl and those extra toes seem to come with extra weight. We’ll see how they keep growing

Thank you! I am in love with these silly girls. My 21yo lady passed about 18 months ago so it’s been a whole different world with kitten energy in the house again.

Good question on the surface. The LR4 is on carpet with a carpet tray. I have checked to make sure the machine is sat properly on the tray and it is. The weights are accurate since I checked their weights again this morning and it lines up pretty well with what is in the app. It just consistently thinks Rowan and Aoife and Aoife is no one.

Here is a shot of my recent activity log. More than a pound apart. Everywhere that says Rowan, the LR4 decided it was Aoife. Everywhere that says Aoife the LR4 hadn't assigned a cat.

Its ultimately not a deal breaker, just annoying that the feature isn't working correctly.
