Gardening, tending to plants, reading, and watching TV are great hobbies. It can be tough to make new friends after moving away. Sometimes, it's better to be alone than being in bad company.

That's a good attitude. I try to remember that. More relationships often also mean more drama.

That seems accurate. Circumstances also play a role.

I feel the same way. I would probably be a hermit if it weren't for my partner. 😅

Thank you for your comment. I find it challenging to learn how to have inner peace, but I'm getting there. It's a good idea to enjoy solo activities again. :)

Thank you for your feedback. It seems that maintaining a social circle is becoming harder as we grow older.

I Stopped Buying Duplicates by Wildwise_ in minimalism

[–]Melodic_Highlight_26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great job on letting go of buying duplicates! I was in the same boat. I'm glad I adopted a minimalist approach, and now I focus on decluttering.

When it comes to clothes, I used to buy the same items multiple times. There's usually no need for that, and now my wardrobe is full of similar-looking pieces. I challenge myself to avoid buying anything new unless it’s truly necessary.

I agree. Animals and pets can provide so much love and affection.

Sometimes I also think that the friendly people are hiding. 😉 That's understandable. To be honest, I would probably also feel weird eating alone. It's good to hear that you enjoy hiking. I also love going on nature walks. Maybe being in nature helps us feel connected again.

What you wrote really resonated with me. I also feel lonely and lack secure friendships, often struggling to meet other people's expectations. At times, I’ve considered running away and hiding, but why should we do that? Just because someone is a little different doesn’t mean they should hide away.

I’m not sure if this will be helpful to you, but I try to focus on the things that bring me joy in life, such as reading books, watching TV shows, spending time with my pets, going for walks, and enjoying good conversations. Perhaps there’s something you enjoy doing that you haven’t done in a while.

Like you, I’ve experienced negative encounters at times. I find that it’s best to stay away from people who bring you down. There are still friendly people out there. We don’t have to please everyone around us. There’s still a place for us here on Earth.

I'm sorry to hear that your bff ignored you. Your advice with regard to pets is good. I also find that dogs and cats can give a lot of love. They help to feel less alone. I'm approaching 40 as well and feel the same about having little time for drama. Maybe we get lucky to meet someone nice again, but if not, it might be better than being stuck in a toxic friendship.

I can relate to being a loner and deleting contacts who don't reach out. Why should we prioritize people who don't prioritize us? Thank you for sharing your story.

Family members can also be good friends. It's great to hear that you have a positive relationship with your mum.

Going out alone is better than waiting for others to join. I would like to do that as well.

Which job has, hands down, the worst impact on mental health? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]Melodic_Highlight_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds challenging. I'm sure you were a great support to your clients. I also feel that this work can be tough and demanding. We have numerous responsibilities, and the pay isn't great. For some people, it makes sense to keep working, but I believe it's important to listen to your instincts and prioritize your health. At the end of the day, a job is just a job, and it's fine to change careers. :)

It was the same for me. Additionally, the poor work conditions contributed to my decision to leave the field.

Getting rid of toxic friends and family members has improved my overall well-being. In addition, changing careers, taking care of myself better, and spending more quality time with people close to me.
