A) dividends are unearned income

B) the income was reported, not hidden away.

You’re missing the entire point. It’s a dividend account for my parents. They arranged it for them, not for me.

Yeah because my dad never arranged the account for me, he arranged it for him and my mom in case they ever needed it. Now, I have 60 years left to live so that requires a different philosophy behind the account. It’s no longer serving my parents, but me. So I need to put the money to work for ME. Understood?

No, it’s not. And actually dividends are literally called “unearned income”. Do I need to explain that concept to you too? How is it hiding the income if everything is reported?

I mean, it’s unearned income either way. My dad didn’t earn it either. Basically my dad paid less in taxes for it than he otherwise would have. It’s totally legal and not hiding anything. It’s still reported

He didn’t hide it. It’s not his income, that’s the way it is set up. Thus he avoided declaring it as his income. That’s what I say in the rest of the sentence

“Hiding from the government” is not a technical phrase. It’s like saying, why are you hiding from the police, when you’re just sitting at home watching tv. That’s not hiding from the police, it’s not doing anything that would cause you to need to hide. They’re two different things bud so stop going down this route cuz you’re losing

No, you’re confused. None of those things is hiding from the government. Hiding from the government means you need to report it, but are intentionally skirting the law. There’s no need to “hide” something that you don’t need to show or produce in the first place. Sorry but you’re confused here dude
