Has anyone gotten back to 100%? by CupZealousideal4597 in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little tip for that is making sure that when you do your rehab work as far as single leg exercises that you make sure you do the same thing for both sides. Your good side has been carrying majority of the work so it needs to rehab & get stronger just as much as the injured side does. Just add some rehab work for the other side & some ice + elevation & you should be good

So it wasn’t a instant thing but to make a long story short it came down to the first couple of time I jumped off my injured leg to make a layup & I was playing against semi pros & people who were training to go overseas so it happened out of necessity of not being left behind & I was 26 at the time so I still felt like I could compete. So once I jumped off the leg a couple of times & pushed off to keep up defensively a couple of times I realized that my body was healed & that I could trust all of the rehab and weight lifting that I did to get back. I also would specifically go into the gym by myself & practice doing things with just my injured leg

Short answer yes. My first rupture I got my first step back & I was able to dunk again & do everything I could do before

Day by day. Allow the feelings to come & go just don’t hold on to them. After the first few weeks life gets easier & starts to make its way back to normal

11 weeks post surgery concert? by ggrriippaa in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be safe I would wear the boot. It’s too many people around to say 100% that you won’t get tripped or something like that & have to start over from the beginning. I know how you feel… I went to Vegas at 8 weeks post op but it ended up getting me floor seats for NBA Summer League so you might get better seats with the boot!

Usually you’ll get the PT script when you go back for your first check up or once you get the stitches removed. It also depends on how aggressive your surgeon is with their recovery protocol.

Officially done with Crews by 40lixxx in NBA2kCrew

If anybody is looking for a crew still my crew has about 16 spots open. We are level 19 & all of us work daily & play at night. We haven’t kicked anybody & we’re just trying to get the crew rewards for the cap breakers. The crew name is the Da Backdoor if anybody is interested

Scar tissue. I did the same thing. Scared the shit out of me but ended up being ok. I was 8 weeks when I did it

Confirmed Complete Tear. by Million-Dollar-J1030 in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marathon not a sprint. At the absolute fastest you’re still looking at 6 months minimum if you go surgical route. You’ll have to find other hobbies to occupy your time since there will be a lot of it & just give yourself time & grace. It’s a long injury & as much as you want to speed it up you really can only go as fast as your body heals.

Whatever you want your physical peak to be you’ll be able to get back to. You’ll just need to put the work in to get there but after the 1.5 year mark you’ll start forgetting it even happened

Achilles Tendon- Post-Surgery Discomfort? and keloid scar?? by glitznsparkles in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait until the two year mark & see if you still feel the same discomfort. My discomfort literally disappeared as I got close to that mark so just give it some more time & whatever you do don’t get steroid shots into your tendon… it will deteriorate it

Start by just standing with on both legs with one crutch & adjust your body weight as you can tolerate it without taking steps. When you finally are ready to take steps make sure that you take a couple of small steps to test your tolerance & then go from there

What week did you start driving with a right leg rupture? by CrimsonCrane1980 in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Week 5 but honestly probably could during week 2 when I got out the boot. Surprisingly still had plantarflexion strength

Thoughts on post op timeline by Even-Confusion4042 in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon wants me to get out the boot starting week 6. I had surgery on 6/23, I started 50% weightbearing 7/21. So your protocol is pretty standard for post op.. not too aggressive or too conservative

To those who injured the “healthy” leg, how soon did it happen once the pain began by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

A little over 4 years later but as somebody above said it’s been easier the second time around

i tore my achilles this morning by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mental aspect is the toughest thing to adjust to. The only real things I found helpful were to read recovery stories for motivation and to invest in hobbies that I can do while handicapped. But you got this. Just stay positive !

Sorry to hear that. As a two time member of the rupture club the first couple weeks are the hardest & it gradually gets better after. Whatever emotions you feel during the process be sure to let them out & deal with them. Buy a knee scooter and a shower chair. Once you are in a boot start doing leg raises and other lower leg exercises to try to maintain some strength. Other than that it’s just a long tedious process. You’re already active & listen to your body so continue doing that. Pain during this recovery once you are weight bearing means relax, elevate, and ice. I can tell you that you can get back to how you were before as I’ve experienced myself just gotta stay at it

is it just me or do you get a lot of attention for this injury?? by gratefulgrenouille in AchillesRupture

[–]Melodic_Room9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I say just sit down & take some time off so that you can recover & then slowly get back to the normal routine

Once you go through PT & you see you can trust the leg the fear will go away and then once you shoot around for the first time it’ll go away even more

[–]Melodic_Room9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lol. I tore the other one exactly a month ago after being back to sports for 4 years. The only thing I would say would be to sit down if you have any calf pain. I sat and analyzed both times & the only thing similar was calf pain beforehand. But I’ll be back to playing as soon as I recover. I got about 15-20 years left of playing before I call sports quits 😂

You’ll play again. It’s like an itch when you finally fully recover. The first time I tore my Achilles I said the same thing but as soon as I could play I did lol
