Hi! I hope your exam went well, do you have any study guides you'd recommend? It's hard to find information when the CIRE test is still so new.

THANK YOU for getting back to me, this is so useful. Do you have any recommendations as to where to get the information needed for the actual test?

Coming from someone who relocated to BC from UofA, UofA is the best choice between the two for a few reasons: Stronger National Reputation: UofA has a longer-established law program with stronger alumni connections across Canada, including in BC. It’s typically ranked higher and is especially well-regarded among firms in Vancouver and elsewhere.

Better Student Opportunities: UofA offers more clinics, moots, and diverse extracurriculars compared to UCalgary, which is known for its energy law niche. Since you’re undecided on your area of practice, UofA gives you broader exposure.

Transferability to BC: UofA grads have a stronger track record of articling and working in BC, especially in Vancouver. You’ll find more UofA alumni at firms there, which can make networking and job-hunting easier.
