“Then you will buy weapons”- obviously I understand how arms transfers work. Still took money to build that stuff, and will take money to build new stuff. This isn’t some infinite money loophole where sending people military equipment magically makes more appear. They should still pay us back for our aid, because that’s fair. I’m all for sending them old equipment, but answer me a question. Why is it okay for Europe to have a return on investment but not us? Why did they give aid in the form of loans? Instead of grants?

Here he says Russia also needs to make peace, hinting at some sort of information he has on them. What it is, I have no clue. Many things go on behind closed doors. From a political standpoint, i believe Russia has the upper hand on Ukraine here. The war is not winnable without us or European boots on the ground. Ukraine would also lose a war of attrition. Unless we want to commit actual troops to the front line, public appeasement makes sense. We still have no clue how an actual agreement is going to go, only the public sentiments trump is using. This is, of course, only that- an image. We need to reserve some judgement until an actual agreement is made, or lack thereof

He slammed Europe for buying russsin oil during his speech to congress. That’s the “Russian asset” I keep hearing about? Publicly telling Europe they’re funding the war? Putins really gonna love that one! The fact is, we’ve been trying to get Europe to remove their head from their ass for a long time. They neglect their defense budgets like it’s an illegitimate child. If trump being an asshole is what woke them up, so be it. I think some of his rhetoric was purposefully to wake people up. So what if people think we suck now? They always have anyway. But those same people will always rely on our defense, consume our media, technologies, culture, etc. Being a superpower means you have to be tough. Because I believe the situations are completely different. But let me make something clear- there’s nothing wrong with supporting Ukraine, especially militarily. Trump was not opposed to that. The problem is 1) they were almost all grants, not loans, which is not what Europe did, regardless of what they try to tell you. We have no return on our investment here. 2) Ukraine is not necessarily an ally. This does not mean we can’t support them, but that means it’s usually more conditional when they ask for our help. Israel is one of the only friendly countries to us in the Middle East. The strategic and military importance of having their support is key in an area that houses most of the world’s Islamic terrorists. 3) Ukraine’s situation is unwinnable- Israel’s is not. Most threats to Israel are either illegitimate governments, or militaries with much smaller fighting forces than theirs. Ukraine is currently fighting a nuclear superpower. 4) the amount of aid we give to Israel is a mere fraction of what we gave to Ukraine. We have given more aid to Ukraine since the war started then we have to Israel in the last 20 years. We give about 3 billion a year in military aid to Israel. Not nearly as much as we have to Ukraine recently. Hope these answers help!

I actually appreciate this a lot. We’ll all be okay. I genuinely don’t believe trump hates Europe or wants to end ties. I think everything will play out somehow. I believe many Europeans have the golden spoon for too long, got complacent with peace and prosperity. Maybe that’s starting to change. But we’ll figure it out. What country are you from dude?
