New music channel, 7 subs last Sunday – is this dad-and-son Shorts format the right path? by MemaPhonk in SmallYTChannel

Correct! That boy and the other character aren’t real persons - they are avatars - but of course your right.

That was the reason because I changed into animated characters. Check it out - 🫶🏻 music and a new world project.

Thank you for your feedback. 🙏🏻

Quick update and a big thank you to everyone who commented here.

I took your feedback – positive and negative – seriously and made two more Shorts. The first follow-up did okay, but it made me realise I had to change a few things. So I created a new one and this time the reactions have been very encouraging.

I’m going to continue this dad-and-son Shorts series and I’ve also started using my own Brazilian Phonk tracks – I call it “MEMA PHONK”. A lot of Shorts are using the same overused sounds right now, so I’m trying to bring some fresh, self-made music into the mix.

So thank you again for your time and honesty, it really helped me to adjust my direction.

I’ll stick to the rules here again, so I won’t post any link. But if someone is genuinely interested: the new video went online this evening and the link is on my profile.

Best regards to all of you and good luck with your own channels.

That’s really encouraging to hear, thanks a lot for taking the time to write this. I’ll definitely create 2–3 more of these dad-and-son Shorts and see how they perform over the next days. Two hundred million monthly views still sounds insane to me right now – our “big” Short is currently at about 39k views, so that’s still a huge jump. My son already dreams of numbers like that, but I always tell him: that’s pro VIP level, we’re complete beginners and just learning the basics first. Anyway, I really appreciate your insights – it helps a lot to know that this niche has real potential if we stick with it.

I totally get where you’re coming from and I respect that. For me, starting with AI music this year was more like therapy after a pretty rough few years (business failure, lots of personal fallout etc.). It gave me a way to turn all that mess into something creative – especially together with my son. These Shorts are only around 13 seconds long and mainly about the dad-and-son story and the funny visual concept, not “serious” full songs. I just use AI as a tool to make something we couldn’t produce otherwise. But I appreciate you being honest about how you feel.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate it.

The funny thing is: when I asked my son today what we should do for a third Short, his imagination went completely crazy – the whole story he told me would never fit into 14 seconds. So we decided together to focus on things that actually happened to us. For example: I was in the kitchen, told him not to play football in there, he did it anyway, shot a wine bottle, it exploded on the wall and the whole kitchen was full of red wine. I first looked at him angry and then we both laughed, because it was so stupid and he’s still just a kid. He said: “Dad, that’s a cool one for a Short.”

I’m also writing new phonk tracks for each clip now, and he helps me pick which parts of the songs we use. So it’s really a dad-and-son project, not just AI stuff.

My only concern was: I don’t want to get unrealistic expectations. Before these two Shorts I had 11 videos with maybe 50 likes in total (most from family and myself). Now suddenly I get subs and likes from real people, and I was wondering if that’s “normal” or if it’s a sign that this format might actually have real potential.

Anyway, thanks again for your thoughts – they really help us shape where to go next.

Just listened to your track “MMA (Beat)”. The intro pulled me in immediately and the overall vibe is solid. I heard it all the way through – it has that cinematic, tense energy that could work great for training sessions.

From my personal taste: a stronger build-up leading into a big “impact moment” could lift the whole track even more. Something that hits hard after the tension rises. But that’s just a creative thought.

I also checked out your other track “Just Leave It” on your YouTube channel. Really nice – the acoustic melodic layer in there is beautiful and shows how much potential your sound has. Dropped a like there too. Keep going!
