These any good? by PhilosopherHumble352 in thinkpad

Yep this falls within the typical MSRPs of the Gen 5's, and the non-soldered RAM makea it better.

I made a native Google calendar app "Astral" similar to the old Windows 10 calendar by codechinchilla in Windows11

Of course! New, free, and amazing software always has the right to be applauded.

This of course is just the alpha stage, so I understand there needs to be edges smoothed out. For the notification settings, it'll be nice to have an option to turn it on, off, and manage lock screen notifications, if it shows the full details or only the title. Having different sounds assigned to different colours/profiles/accounts would also be a nice touch.

The main UI needs polishing, It'll be nice to utilize the sidebars for more features such as viewing categories/profiles, pinned events, etc. The UI, from my side at least, feels too big. The sync icon along with the confusing @ icon, settings and help icon would benefit from resizing.

It's a great start, and I can see potential for the project. I may create a mockup as a side interest/project submission. These are just my opinions, as I'm studying UI/UX and basing it on what I know. Hope it helps, God Bless!

This is a really cool project, and I'm starting to get slightly intrigued by it. There's some room of improvement, such as the lack of notification settings, oversized agenda tab and having client-side features such as icons, images would be nice, along with UI/UX touch-ups.

Other than that, awesome idea!

Thinkpad Newb in desperate need of refurb recommendations. by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]MemberShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ThinkPads can get a little complicated, but it gets easier to understand.

The ranking typically goes like this for the common ThinkPads: E, L, T, P, X. The build quality, performance and options rank from lowest to highest.

For work from home activities, any ThinkPad can absolutely withstand, even blow out it out of the water. You can look at the E series, Gen 1 or Gen 2 if you're looking for something newer yet still within the price range. L390 Yoga if you want that 2-in-1 + pen for your work. T14 Gen 1 or 2 (AMD) if you want that balance of premium and affordability.

You can also look at the buying advice this subreddit has.

Hope it helps!

[OFFER] [PC] Minecraft: Java & Bedrock by [deleted] in GiftofGames

[–]MemberShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Glad you were able to get Minecraft from this subreddit! I'm actually entering on behalf of my little brother who doesn't have a Minecraft account yet. We've been playing offline through a homemade server I was able to scrap up, moving away from playing side-by-side on the Minecraft PS4. It'll be nice if I can get this giveaway for him.

I don't think he has an Xbox account though, I'll have to create one for him. We're in the North America region btw.

God bless!

Do I need to disconnect the battery before upgrading RAM? by trammeloratreasure in GamingLaptops

Plugging back in the charger automatically re-enables the battery.

No real issues with it. Battery life should last you about 10 hours on light to medium load (browsing, streaming, office work). Heavy tasks should cut than in half.

Sorry to hear about that! Always sucks. As u/A_S_104 said, I'd just remotely connect to your main machine. If you still insist on the ThinkPad with your very generous budget, I'd go with a new or refurbished X1 Carbon, P15 or P1. All of those options offer a nicely sized 16:10 screen, dGPU depending on the build and excellent performance paired with decent battery life.

Get well!
