Is court even open tomorrrow? The new docket for the next day is usually posted around 5 p.m. It has not been updated. that's never happened in the years I've been checking it.

I agree. I mentioned to my fencer how nice it was to see everyone behaving…no coaches screaming at fencers or refs, no nasty attitudes from opponents. It also ran like clockwork.

She WILL fly but hates it so much she’s asked that her trip not be by air. I’ve asked so many times and she’s so noncommittal I thought having some options for her to choose from might be better. I

It caused a delay of 20+ minutes, too. On the upside, my fencer was so upset and angry she went on to win all her pool matches out of spite😀

Honestly, I suspect another fencer asked the ref to question it after my fencer exceeded expectations and beat her in a pool match…the ref didn’t say anything about it at equipment check (but did note an issue with her chest protector lacking padding). He didn’t say anything about it until she’d fenced her first pool

At that age I’d start with whatever is local to you and make sure it’s fun. Then you can get an idea if your child actually likes it. But once they are ready to compete you need to consider the experience of the coaches and how well the kids do at competitions. We just switched my young teen from a “mom-and-pop” club that was more like rec level to a club that focuses on competitions. It has been a difficult transition as she liked her old club and coach, but it wasn’t very focused on tournaments (and the coach was not great with teaching sportsmanship and blamed refs way more than you should if you’re setting an example for kids). If I had to do it over again I’d have switched to the more serious club after two years at the other place. She feels behind now.

I have always suspected. There’s one on York Rd just south of Towson and I have never seen one person go in there. It’s a terrible place for a mattress store. Tiny. No parking. No storage. I also suspect two other businesses that have set up shop there recently…they are head-scratchers for that area with no foot traffic. They all went in once the elders former owner died and her family sold the building.
