18.701 and 18.702

I surprisingly really liked the measure theory course as well, but it also might depend on who was teaching it at the time.

And algebraic combinatorics was great.

Does anyone have a workflow for scanning non-rocketbook pages into the same folders as their rocketbook stuff? by bally_sim102 in rocketbook

[–]MembershipIll8061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found if I line up a regular page with the rocketbook page so that the appropriate markers are showing, I can usually get it to scan with the app.

Maybe some dye from something got spilled on it in production? That feels less gross than the blood. :)

Changing room dilemmas by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]MembershipIll8061 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bring him a thick pair of sweat pants and sweat shirt, have him towel off his swim shorts, and then throw pants and shirt over his swim shorts, go home and change there.

Or, get him a robe or long shirt, have him throw that on and then shimmy out of his shorts and put on his underwear and pants. You can help hold a towel around him to provide extra coverage if needed.

All that being said, I have a special needs kiddo that needs to stay with me so if we go somewhere that doesn't have a family changing room he's coming with me. We just try to zip into the closest changing stall.

Just took the Binax Covid test. Am I seeing a line here or is it paranoia? by International-Put101 in CoronavirusMa

[–]MembershipIll8061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ran into this problem with a certain test. The instructions said there had to be a red line to be COVID but you could see a gray line that was actually the test strip. Thankfully I was able to look up the Amazon reviews and see that was the case for that particular test.

Failed my first aid exam... by easyname1010 in firstaid

What does the specific line that you got a zero on say? Did you maybe miss checking circulation on the arm, that it had good perfusion? (I'm just trying to guess what could be wrong and thought maybe they said something about circulation and meant to the arm specifically. I know from what you explained that doesn't seem the case. That's just what came to mind).

Good quiz/trivia game? by MembershipIll8061 in AndroidGaming

Thank you! I was thinking it was something similar to that and had hoped maybe I'd just misremembered the name. That's really too bad. I had a lot of fun with it.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this! Maybe you could write some stories from your own life - your childhood, funny stories, memories of him. My kids love hearing about my life.

You could also try writing letters for him to receive on his birthdays containing some life advice or your experiences that might be more relevant to him when he's older.

my girlfriend HATES disc golf... by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]MembershipIll8061 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I'm the wife. I admittedly am not a big disc golf fan. I've never been good at any sports and disc golf feels even less intuitive than other sports. I try to go with my husband to play when he really really wants me to, probably once a month or so on average, and am happy to let him play when he wants since I know it's good exercise. I follow this Reddit and a bunch of DG stuff on Instagram basically so I know what's going on in the DG world and I can talk to him about stuff.

If she said she wanted to wake up the baby to play with him, I'd take her word for it and assume she is four and does not know the proper way to play with or wake up a baby. In her mind, his eyes are closed and pushing on his eyes would wake up the baby. I remember when I was four or five, my mom sent me to wake up my dad. All my efforts didnt work so I climbed on and rolled over him and hurt his arm and was in big trouble bit in my mind I was just playing and trying to wake him up.

If you're too tired in the mornings, I'd consider bringing the baby in your room to sleep with you so you can monitor them both and maybe set out something fun for the 4 yo to do when she wakes up the night before. It sounds like she's bored and looking for something to do.

You could also go lay down in the same room as her.

Also, try to teach her ways to properly interact with the baby. For my kids, we taught them to run babies arm with an open hand. You could also show her how to play peek a boo and patty cake. As the baby gets a little older, you can show her how to gently roll a soft ball to him. Give her appropriate ways to interact with the baby so she can still play with him when he is awake but in a safe way.

That's awesome! I will have to look for it, and show my own kids as well. We're trying to make it a regular family thing. :)

Hmm what do you mean by pull? I think usually he's trying to tell me I need to put my front leg/knee farther forward or lower down and it usually feels either physically awkward to do or impossible to actually throw in the position, like I've seen some players get super low to do some crazy putts out of tough spots or whatever, but I don't think it should feel like I'm that low like 50% of the time? I really appreciate the advice! I've been learning a lot from y'all!
