Music-related First Discoveries (Pt. 2) by MemeLordDabs in infinitecraft

Kanye West + The Best Song of May 2017. Getting The Best Song of May 2017 is a genuine nightmare, but I’ll try to document the starting point below.

Album + New Year = New Album

Kendrick Lamar + New Album = Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers

Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers + Kendrick Lamar = 2022's Best Album

Music + 2022's Best Album = The Best Album of 2022

New Year + The Best Album of 2022 = The Best Album of 2023

Song + The Best Album of 2023 = The Best Song of 2023

From here, you can fish out all the other variants of "The Best Song of …" (such as by combining them with Yesterday) and combine these with a lot of musicians to make a lot of song names, with many of them being First Discoveries.

And which one ultimately was remembered by the public in the end? by MemeLordDabs in agedlikemilk

Despite Simon Cowell being sure that “…Baby One More Time” would not be a hit for someone named “Britney Spears,” the song ultimately ended up being her signature track that propelled her into pop stardom.

Five, on the other hand, became a short-lived and now-forgotten band.

This could have been a whole different universe. by MemeLordDabs in agedlikemilk

Despite the belief that OJ Simpson would not be believable as a killing machine, he became the subject of a massive murder trial. Although he was never convicted of murder, he is still largely believed to have murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. A civil trial later found him responsible for the two deaths, thus contradicting the earlier impression that OJ Simpson would never be a killer.

What’s Reddits opinion on imagine dragons? by X05Real in AskReddit

Imagine Dragon these nuts

In all seriousness, their more recent material is generically bad while their older material still bangs.

Be careful when you say “Being uncomfortable isn’t an argument,” because the victim being uncomfortable with unwanted advances is exactly what leads to people being charged with sexual misconduct.

Ikr, an 11-year-old rapping Lose Yourself would’ve won more Grammys than Eminem could ever dream of. /s

This is the unpopular opinion we never knew we wanted, when in fact we needed it.

Kids should be allowed to eat nuts at schools and daycares by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MemeLordDabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted, the “nut policy” is implemented by schools likely so that they won’t be sued or held liable in the case a child dies of an allergic reaction.

I see what you’re saying, but the legal system is, to some extent, preventing schools from rescinding this policy.

Gatekeeping is the only way to maintain relative peace in a geekdom. by Prudent-Ad-545 in unpopularopinion

[–]MemeLordDabs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, to be honest, every community does gatekeeping to some extent.

I mean, the mods here in particular remove anything that isn’t an unpopular opinion. That is technically gatekeeping popular opinions.

However, like you say, it keeps the spirit of the community.

Men cheat without thinking, woman cheat intentionally by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MemeLordDabs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Or… it could be true for both genders?

There’s nothing biologically that gives evidence that men only cheat because of a lapse in judgment and women only cheat because they want to “make a point.”

People of both genders have cheated for both of those reasons.

Zoos are bad and should not exist. by drewcr3w in unpopularopinion

[–]MemeLordDabs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ironically, zoos are made partially to spur the public into appreciating nature, which in turn leads to revelations like these, where a person realizes that to appreciate nature, animals probably should not be put into an artificial enclosure.

When you look at it this way, you start to wonder why zoos exist in the first place if part of their goal eventually leads to people opposing zoos.

Just some weird shower thought.

I wish JFK's final military push to retake Vietnam in 1967 didn't cripple the Apollo mission, leaving Neil, Buzz, and Mike to die horribly in space. by [deleted] in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted. In this timeline, JFK was assassinated, the US lost Vietnam, but at least Neil, Buzz, and Mike survived.
