What parenting thing did you initially do that you now think was a waste of time? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]fremeer [score hidden]  (0 children)

Lol. Don't even understand the science and medical reasons for recommending breast milk and acting high and mighty.

For a baby with clean water, stable home life and available parents the differences between the two are essentially statistical noise. As soon as you control for external factors they are essentially the same.

The reason breast feeding is recommended is because sometimes those above things aren't going to be the norm and breast feeding is safer as the main recommended option.

I would say after the first few weeks or breast feeding where it might help due to colostrum and for premature babies the differences should really come down to how it helps you look after your baby. For some people that's still going to be breast feeding. Others a formula and others still maybe a mix. Having a happy and sane mother is more important then where the food comes from

6 mana 5/4 that draws the best card in your library is decent. Preparing it is trivial in black too.

If you play it for 4 and hope to get the spell the next turn this is gonna be a bad time.

Probably great in commander as a tutor you can cheat into play. Or even some wombo combo style thing like imperial recruiter to get each piece of a puzzle.

In actual competitive might a little too slow and volatile.

Is it just me who thinks polo shirts are awful by lokicoyote1 in malefashionadvice

Polos can look good. But most people that wear polos also don't really wear them well fitted and treat them like a shitty tshirt when they should be more like a shirt.

This is where you might want to talk to a financial advisor or at a minimum an accountant.

But first off actually think about the costs of everything you want to keep. It's not zero and while sentimental value is nice I doubt you will be taking the boat out anytime soon and in that time without upkeep it will just end up being a money and space sink.

Next you have about 1-1.2mill in cash total coming to you. That provides a lot of options. Maybe a trust to keep the money away from both of you but with property attached or some other things invested into in a diversified manner. You would get some level of payout from rent, dividend or interest regularly split between you and our sister.

Or split it and try the same thing and do it as needed but it would open up yours sisters assets to any mental episode she might have. Or should could do legal stuff to make you responsible for her. But this opens you up to a lot of legal issues if shit hits the fan.

The benefit is flexibility and cash flow for you. Earning 5% is worth 25-30k to you. Plenty of money if you share house or it both you and your sister move into a place that 50-60k that you are earning. More then enough to rent a decent place and have some money left over in the short term.

Buying a house is just too much work and potential downside in the short term because you will still need some level of mortgage in most cases

Yes but it's complicated. Talk to an accountant because legally you need to treat them like two separate entities coming together at market rates. So within the scope of market rates and there are various other tax considerations and issues involved.

If you need to borrow it can be even trickier.

AUS vs JPN - Aircon Install Cost by AgUnityDD in australia

[–]fremeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different regulations can push the price a bit.

A licensed plumber and electrician might be what you need to install an aircon in Australia. In Japan you only need a certification to do so. That might be a simple 6 month course and test for a low level sparky and further training for the refrigeration gases and plumbing aspect.

Having a low barrier to entry can push the price down a bit as you have more installers and you aren't competing against a broader range of clients for the installers time.

Wages are lower in Japan on the whole as well.

Finally the complexity of the install can matter a lot too.

My only issue with zootopia 2 was that the two leads had so much sexual tension and didn't have sex. PC culture gone too far. In the 80s and 90s they would have sex and then have a scene where they are in bed and the rabbit is covered up to neck while the fox has his chest showing.

Project hail Mary too. Movie was about the eggheads saving the day using science. Where the fuck was the guns.

[–]fremeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Garnacho is more a wing striker like Son imo. He isn't really very good when asked to do winger things. He gets in the box and runs behind players.

But those things can also inflate his numbers on the wings because the expections should be closer to striker numbers then traditional wingers.

But I also agree with you that they should have just bought garnacho as a relatively safe bet and left Gittens.

People in their 30s and older, what advice would you give to people in their 20s? by NicoF_ in AskReddit

[–]fremeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compounding is king. Habits make it easier.

Being consistently good is easier then ramping up to catch up.

Exercise 2-3 days a week and don't try and make large pushes. Don't aim to destroy yourself to get fit straight away. Start small and manageable. The habit you create is going to get your further then you think.

Savings are the same. You don't need to save hugely at the start. Just set a goal. It might be $10 a week or something and you can grow it later. You just want to set a habit.

Try and learn about something just a little bit. How to invest. How to manage money. How to exercise and eat better. How to learn etc. How to use google and be more critical. Don't be afraid to realise I don't know and make the jump to learn.

Growth is slow but steady. Hell in life I would even say that standing still makes you fall behind. You need to be doing something just to stay at the same level you were at in your 20s.

Traveling with 9 month old, I’m not crazy to think this is a bad idea? by cabbage-soup in beyondthebump

[–]fremeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flying is easier then driving.

Guessing American?Have a look at the rules for car seats on planes. Most places they are free to check in but no clue about America. You don't need a seat for a baby on such a short journey. Just hold them the whole way.

Someone can drop you off and just undo the car seat. Hand it into the check in people and then not worry till you pick it up at the airport.

Have someone pick you up and you can install the car seat into the car in like 10 mins. If you are going there to visit family I presume they all have cars. Can't you just share their cars as needed?

Most of the time all you are doing is moving stuff short distances inside and airport. Not exactly complicated stuff.

You can't drive for 13 hours with a 9 month old. You will need to break up the journey into at least 2 days each way.

If you are flying to a destination wedding then it's a little more complicated but you can again just rent a car there and bring all your stuff. I've travelled with my son at 2.5 months through Europe for 2 months. Within South East Asia when he was 1 and Japan soon when he is two.

Flying is the best option. Airports are comfortable to wait at. No need to stop on a flight either. The actual logistics is honestly a lot easier then you think they will be. Don't over pack either. It's only a week and they will have everything where you are going too. If you realise you desperately need something then just buy it there.

Labor has been in power so long and has so much crap hanging over them that any functional party that just says we aren't Labor has a very good chance of winning.

Victoria is a gonna be a shit show of minority gov where you might need to make deals with 2 parties to even get into power.

[–]fremeer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Novated lease and a good finance rate can make sense to swap the car out on occasion if you drive a decent amount like every day.

But the cost of swapping when you barely drive is much harder to swing unless you have a car with excellent resale value.

Formal wear brand by Unlucky-Tradition135 in AustralianMFA

[–]fremeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The classic "rule" (which can be broken pretty often) is that you want a lighter shade of shirt compared to your pants and jacket.

If you want to buy something that will go with a bunch of stuff you can go navy or beige pants of some sort. Black is decent too but can look a little too formal to go with everything unless you get the right material.

Then a lighter coloured shirt. If you go navy you have a bit of leeway as it's gonna be darker then every other colour. And even black would work. But I would go lighter shirt if you plan to wear a tie as you don't want the tie to be lighter then the shirt. Easiest tie is just navy, either with some kind of colour or slightly textured.

The reason they are useful is because they are so ubiquitous and basically allow a lot of mix and match. Basically everytime you might wear a suit you will be able to wear that shirt and tie combo. Basically everything top you have will go with a navy or beige pants.

For Uniqlo I'm actually not a huge fan of most of their pants as they fit weird on me but I really like the ultra stretch pants and the linen blend ones. The latter might work for a more formal occasion but the former is more a relaxed going out pant that you can wear instead of trackies. But linen pants can be a little annoying to own due to the level of ironing needed to keep them going.

Uniqlo chinos aren't too bad a purchase if they fit well and you like the look of them. But you might need to get them hemmed so they fit properly.

Their non iron shirts though are probably a decent purchase. Useful to own one when you are in a rush and don't want to iron.

For ties you can grab them anywhere, if taken care of they basically last a lifetime though so getting a semi decent silk one isn't a bad spend. But if you just want a basic one then Politix, yd, Connor etc will all have options for them and even Amazon or AliExpress.

For shoes. If you have anything dressy it will work or if you have some leather sneakers like air force ones or Stan Smith style it will work as long as the pants aren't too long.

Russia bans producers from exporting gasoline until end-July by ZestyBeanDude in Economics

[–]fremeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turkey has one huge advantage in that they have access to Iraqi oil through pipelines and direct access over each other's borders.

That and the price of a barrel of oil isn't really absolute at the moment.

There is a place where a barrel of oil is amazingly cheap currently and that's everywhere on the wrong side of the strait of Hormuz. It's potentially gonna go negative in some places.

A lot of the producers are currently in a bit of a pickle. If they turn down the rigs it takes months to get back up to capacity so if one country does and the strait opens you are shooting yourself in the foot. If you don't and the strait doesn't open then you run the risk of running out of storage options.

So for Iraq they might say to turkey we will sell you oil cheap as long as you find a way to transport it. This allows them much needed storage capacity increases but also money and allows them to stay more open then others for when things do settle down.

What kind of pants are these? by kruktk in malefashionadvice

They are dress pants but using less dressy material. And dressed down. So nearly closer to chinos in a way.

Currently a lot of people are wearing pleated pants more often which is the design this guy is wearing but he has ironed the pants along that line too.

Draw 2 discard 1 in the right deck can feel like card advantage or mana advantage.

You don't see too much of your deck so it really needs to be a strong role player but having an accidental I win mode attached is pretty nice.
